Default Alchemist Potions and Consumables List

Starting your Alchemist

At level 40 you can start your Alchemist training. Head to a tradeskill instance and talk to the alchemist trainer for your progression quests (takes up 4 slots in your quest book.) You will need to make all the tier 1 recipes to progress and then you need to be level 50 to proceed to tier 2. This continues with tier 3 (level 60) and so on.

Each recipe requires a material that comes from mob drops, usually casters within tier level range (40-49 for tier 1.) They are called "Alchemist Cache" and when opened (right click) delivers a number of alchemist items. The other ingredient (the last one listed) is in addition to being found in drops, being sold at merchants in the tradeskill zone.

POTIONS

All the potions are exactly the same as the potions that you can buy on the merchants. In other words it is not worth putting too much effort into these, although you have to do them to progress the Alchemist quests. At the moment there are only 3 tiers of potions.

The (M) behind the last item is a reminder that these items can be bought at the Merchants and that you don't have to run around out there in the wild looking for these.

CONSUMABLES:

Consumables have three items of each stat for each tier. The first item has more regen than max (stat), the second has more max than regen and the last is a green item which is more rare and has both good regen and max. In addition the green items last for 4 hours and through death.

It is recommended that you evaluate whether you need good regen or good max. For instance, a priest would benefit more from max health than health regen, since they can heal themselves anyway and all regen is out of combat.

Hunting Grounds

In the patch notes at the 26/06-2008 Funcom stated that Mages and Priest mobs now will drop an Alchemists Cache randomly, which contain random resources for the level-range where it was found. Basically this means that you'll need to find caster mobs within the tier level range of the alchemist items you want.

There are also alchemist items dropping from other mobs (mostly animal mobs) but these items are not in caches. So, be mindful about what you are not looting or throwing away. Use the lists above as reference.

Tier 1 Hunting

The best locations for tier 1 hunting is the Field of the Dead, which is the zone you get through after running through Conall's valley in Cimmeria. The mobs here will be level 47-49, which means that you'll need to wait well into the 45+ level range before you can take on these mobs. On PvP servers you might also need to defend yourself against higher level players, so this isn't going to be easy. There are 2 areas in FotD where you'll find caster mobs:

Aztel Summoner which can be found east, on the hillside just before the Eiglophian mountains. [ IMAGE ]
White Hand Sorcerer which roams around north of the lookout spawnpoint. [ IMAGE ]

Another hunting ground for tier 1 alchemist caches and raws are the villa quests in the Noble District [ IMAGE ] - I have just gone through four of these with my alt, but from all that work I only managed to find one cache. It could be my bad luck or it could be that the cache drop isn't that good here. It is still a nice place to get some good XP, where you can go alone and not worry about PvP.

Other places to be on the lookout: Trading post where other players sell their stuff and drop from NPCs in tradeskill zones.

Tier 2 hunting

Coming soon!

Looking good Bloodwire, One question, what does the green marking mean? Best item per tier?

It means they are green. Basically you have 3 items of each stats for each tier (consumable anyway) - first one has more regen than max, next one has more max than regen and the last one is green (bit more rare) and gives nice boost to both. I also think these last for 4 hours and you won't loose them if you die (need to check on this.)

Potions are natural and food (consumables) are out of combat only.
