And for others it didn't solve the problem at all : i was just trying to find an universal issue when i've read this thread :s

I haven't got this problem personnaly so...

Perhaps a way to explore is the existence of the process (perhaps more than once) inside the task manager at the moment of editing prefs_2

orginal French thread here : http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=21983

The problem was just in my case an install/patching error, as when i uninstall AoC and make a new install, i don't have the mountain anymore and i can login/play AoC.

Can anyone give me some help with graphics cards please? <3

basically I have a 8600gts 256mb at the moment, can run Age of Conan on medium settings with 25 - 35 fps which I don't mind, but would love to upgrade it.

Unfortunaly I can't get a major upgrade, purely because my PSU is only 375w, and is not upgradeable (Have a DELL Dimension 9200), so I was looking at this card http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/517304...ctReviews.html

Its a 8600gt 1gb, would that be an okay card to upgrade to? Will my PSU run it?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think that would be a vast upgrade if memeory serves me right the 1GB is marking hype, as the 1GB comes in use for running higher resolutions, yet the card itself isn't really powerful enough to do higer resolutions.

As to power requirements i don't know, the normal GT pulls about 60/70watts i think, but then you need more wattage for the rest of the PC too.

I sometimes have the issue with Artifacts also. Running around and every 5 seconds, for a few seconds, the screen just fills with spikes of bits of character and plant, etc. It usually goes on a relog, or such.

Either way, I'm pulling between 8 and 15 fps most times, for some reason, regardless of what quality I set it to. Currently downloading the latest ATI driver (released today) and XP service pack 3 (because... um.. I can), but I can't suss out the problem.

Specs are:
Intel 6400 Dual Core 2.13GHz processor (not overclocked, I can't be bothered figuring it out).
2558MB RAM (4 x 1 GB sticks in, I'm aware of XP's issue with this, but... well, don't see how to improve it )
Windows XP 32 bit
ATI Radeon X1950Pro 512MB Graphics, with a 19" screen running in 1280x1024.
1 Hitachi HDT725040VLA360 HD, split into 2 partitions at 30GB (C: Windows and core files, D:97.6GB, Media files, and J:244GB, Games, Program Files, AoC etc.)

I regularly use CCleaner, and I recently ran the AoC validation tool. The C Drive is defragged every so often (a few hours ago), not the others yet. I regularly check for spyware, viruses, it's all clean. McAfee's running in the background, but never scanning when AoC is running.
Anyone got any hints at all?

Man thats sucky FPS, im getting 15-20 (after much tweaking on low settings, which is VERY random to say the least!!) with an ATI HD2400 PRO (which is pretty crappy for this game)

It is most odd (AoC that is) its like it runs totally different on every machine. Most people see big improvements for running just one core on dual core machines, but if i do it my FPS drop to some silly number like 1 or 2!!

I really would appreciate a Dev at least commenting on these odd and varied GFX issues.

hi there !

I could play saturday evening, and having a freeze once for 2 or 3hours of games wasn't bad, but since sunday, the freeze where more régulare.
Since monday i can't play more then 2 or 5 minutes.

Now I can't play the game because i usualy have a freeze (9 times out of 10) during the loading just after the selection of the caracter.

First, i could see lot of people on the forum having the same trouble and couldn't play the game, but now, i don't see any news from that.
Have anybody some info about that? because it makes me feel that the dev aren't expecting to work on that problem ...

And personnaly, after expériencing many change in graphique option, new driver, old driver and memory test, i feel hopeless.

P4 3ghz
2x512 DDR400 PC3200
ATI X1950 pro AGP 8x
XP sp2

good game for the people who don't have problem playing the game (at least more then 1 or 2 houres )

I have a problem I haven't seen mentioned anywhere.

Specs.
Intel quadcore 2.3 processor
4 Gig DDR2 ram
9800 GT2 1024 N-vidia
750 gig harddrive
Windows Vista 32 bit

I crash regularly, due to "not enough memory", it appears to be quiet random, but always when within a settlement (might be coinsidence) and whenever I type i a chat window I instantly crash to a window that again states "Not enough memory"

Does this make sense to anyone, as I'm not very techinical so I try to be as descriptive as possible.

Default Suggestions for FAQ additions / modification

DirectX10 isn't sceduled for launch untill mid august. It will be unveiled at the game confrence in Leipzig (if I remember correctly) according to the info given by funcom.

Slow downloadspeeds can be because of your antivirus. The antivirus will scan each package you download and thus, will slow down your patchers ability to download fast. Temporary disable your antivirus or make it ignore AoC patcher if possible to go from 10-20kb/s to 1-2mb/s.

Poor FPS and running Windows XP 32bit? Get the Z-Project drivers:

I can't say this for certain, but I !!think!! that it might be caused by running a 32bit OS with 4gigs of Ram. If my memory serves me right, you can only use 3.5 of the 4 gigs installed, due to some limitations or whatever. Might be because of that.

And... If you haven't installed Vista SP1, then do so ASAP. Fixes a lot of nasties in the OS.

Yeah I'm awaiting the SP1 install with great hopes.

So because I have more RAM (4 GIG) then my OS can run(3.5), it could result reversed of the desired effect? That it runs out of memory faster then if I had had say 3 Gigs installed?
