Introduction

Hyboria is earth, thousands upon thousands of years ago in the past. This is a time when the ancient magics of the pre-human races streaked through the dreams of humans. The time when the ancient gods of the earth truly existed.

This is the Age of Conan, when the great Aqualonian King was overthrown and a man of the Cimmerian Barbarians crowned himself of the most power Kingdom in the west. The world of Hyboria is visceral, savage and real, it is a good world of Rp, but there is much to know.

History of Hyboria

The world of Hyboria began much before it was called Hyboria, before the Hyborians came out of their years of savagery and founded the kingdoms of the west. No, it was during the time before what is known as the Cataclysm that the very foundations of the world were laid to rest. It was during this time that the great Thurian civilization of the Valusia, Verula, Kamela, Commoria, Thule and Grondar. They existed on thet Thurian continent, shared similar culture and language.
Other kingdoms did exist but they were neither human in some parts of the world or they were not as civilized.

There were three major aspects to this ancient world, the Thurian continent which made up a majority of the civilized world. To the south were the lands of an ancient pre-human racial civilization which had connections to the Thurian culture. To the west stood the small continent of Atlantis and farther than that stood the Pictish Islands. In the far east stood the islands of the Lemurian peoples. East the the Kingdoms and between the Lemurian islands dwelt many primitive
tribes and clans among the deep jungles and mountains of the land.

The barbarians of the days were the Atlanteans and Picts of the western islands and continent. The Thurian culture had begun to crumble and decay and they no longer had large standing armies. The military of these Kingdoms was made up mostly of those barbarians that the Kingdoms had once disdained. These barbarians would become their statesmen, generals and even kings. This would lead eventually to the creation of an Atlantean nation upon the Thurian content but this information has been lost to time.

It was then that the world was rent asunder in the Cataclysm, Atlantis, Lemuria, and the Pictish islands fell beneath the waves. Of the Thurian civilization much was lost. The Atlantean Kingdom survived as many of it's people fled the sinking Atlantis to the main coast. The Picts survived also in a large colony found on the mountain ranged eastern border of the fallen Kingdom of Valusia. The Lemurians also remained and fled their destroyed islands. From there they traveled to the eastern coast of the Thurian continent, those that survived the trip were then enslaved by one of the power
ancient civilizations forgotten by time.

The Atlanteans were able for a while to maintain their powerful nation. Though robbed of metallurgy and the knowledge to craft the great wonders of the Thurian age, they learned to work with rock and stone. Learning thus to craft magnificent wonders with their knowledge. Though not attaining a high level of civilized life, the noble barbaric people of the Atlantean Kingdom were in
many ways close to the height of their civilization.

Nations fall and it was in one fateful time that the Atlantean people came into contact with the Pictish race. Falling farther back than the Atlanteans, the Picts outnumber and had mastered the work of flint. It was in this time that the two kingdoms fell into war. The vestiges of each falling father into barbarism. The continent was now covered in vast jungles, forests and filled with stranged creatures. As the two stone aged nations fought their continuous bought of wars brought
the Kingdom of Atlantis it's final blow. Now splitting into loose clans, the Atlanteans continued their constant war with the Picts in the west.

The fareast was still a land of the pre-human nations, and even some of the Valusian influence nations still existed. Here the Lemurians toiled under their dark masters, still enslaved to the ways of the pre-human. Farther north a savage ape like human race drove into the icy north. Here they found great beast like frost giants that they fought with fervor. Slowly they drove farther north and slowly began to settle.

The final blow to all forms of the savage kingdoms came at last in the form of another, yet lesser cataclysm. This resulted in much of the continent sinking beneath the waves and a great inland see forming. The start of the tribal wars was wrought and the races were sent back in their line of evolutions.

A thousand years after the lesser cataclysm the world that would become Hypria was much changed from it's appearance during the Thurian and Post Thurian age. It was a land of harsh jungles and fallen ruins. In the west, what was once the Atlanteans were now a ape man race of crude beastial savages. The Picts had fallen neither to de-evolve or to evolve but had frozen in their evolutionary path. The Lemurians themselves had become a race of power beastial men and had overthrown
their pre-human masters. They then had fallen upon the entire civilization in the far east and it lies thus in ruin.

The Lemurians traveled farther south to the area where the great Southern Pre-human nations had once stood. Overthrowing the last bastion of the pre-human people they took the conquered culture and religion upon themselves. And thus the Nation of Stygia arose in the south.

To the north, the trend of the barbaric remains of Thuria, and the savages of the forersts were on an
upward trend. A race of savages who had gained some manner of progress they worshiped their god Borri, named for a great chief or deity from the pre-cataclysm times. These are the Hybori people, the people that will start and end the Hyborian age.

The Hybori had become a race of tall tawny haired war like people, they drove cattle and settled in the west of Hyboria. Some were told of the ape-like races of the north that were evolving into men, but many disowned this idea and laughed at it. The Hybori pushed farther into the continent and swept all other tribes and clans aside. Thus positioning themselves as the dominate people of the western region.

Humanity is slowly becoming human once again, the Hybori intermingle and cause the revival of the Zhemri culture. The Atlanteans are coming closer and closer to a form of barbaric life and out of the ape like life style they lead in their dark homeland. To the south of them, the Picts again neither progressed nor fallen back. Again proving that stubborn acts can lead to utterly no movement in the human machine. And between Stygia and the Hybori tribes wanders a people newly made, the Sons
of Shem, or the Shemites as they would become to be known.

What really attributed to the drift and movement of the Hybori tribes was the first of their kingdoms to be established. Long after the Atlanteans had master stone craft, a people in the north over the River of Death Ice had come to build with stone. Not mortaring or gluing them together they rose them up in the dark cold land they made home. This suddenly turned the tribe from nomads into a settled people. And it was this Kingdom's Rise, Hyperborea, and their ensuing victory drove the remaining Hybori tribes farther south.

The tawny haired invaders encounter the Picts and drive them into the barren lands in the west. The Atlanteans have brought themselves farther into a form of life that the Hyborians are leaving. The Lemurians of the east have also created their own form of semi-civilization. As the Hybori travel south they found other Kingdoms like Koth. As the southern clans settle, their northern relatives return and another wave of mgiration begins. Hyperboreans are remade as their Kingdom is toppled and more mixing is made. The people of Zhemri and Southern Hyperborea unite and form the Kingdom of Zamora. Picts invade the Vallley of Zingg and breed with the people of that land, thus arises the Nation of Zingara.

Five hundred years have passed since the nations remade themselves from the second Hybori migration. The Hyborians as they are now called have arisen as the scions of Civilization in the Northern continent that now bears their name. Their great Kingdoms of Nemedia, Brythuria, Hyperborea, Koth, Argos, Corinthia, Orphir, and a region known as the Border Kingdom. The most well known is Aqualonia who shall inherit much in history and lose the most.

To the south the Shemite people have changed ruler for ruler and are ruled now by Koth. The Stygians have dwelled into ancient ways and their old Kingdom has grown vast and power. Below them lie the lands of the Kunutses and barbaric jungles of the Black Kingdoms. The west is marked by the Kingdoms of the Hybori, and yet one region does not bow. For that's Cimmeria, daughter
of Atlantis and home of the children of the old legacy of High Savagery. The Cimmerians are a people of battle and barbaric ways, and yet have fought back the Hybori waves.

Five hundred years later and yet again the scope of the land has changed. Aqualonia is coming towards her high tide and is master of the Hybori Kingdoms. The savage ape men of the North have emerged as the twin races of the red haired Vanir of Vanaheim, and the blonde haired Aesir of Asgard. They drive what is left of the northern reaches of the Hybori and thus retake the frozen north as theirs.

As the Lemurians have changed and come, they return to the west as the horse raiders known as Hyrkanians. They found the Kingdom of Turan that will become a great empire. And the plains of the east are marked as the Hyrkanian clans clash and fight with the people of Hyperborea and other natives of Shemitish origins.

The peoples of Hyborian mix and mash and become a racial cooking pot. The Brythurians mix with the Zamorans and Shemitish in many ways. And so does Aqualonia become a people of many races. It is in then that the nothern province of Gunderland does the blood of the Hybori become pure. The Cimmerians are a people of the ancient savages of Atlantis and their blood is not different from when they first become one with the Thurian peoples of the ancient days. The Hyperboreans become more alien as their isolation and mixing with Hyrkanian women of alien nature make them strange and forbidden. Even in Stygia does the mixing happen, and thus the Lemurian blood is tained and changed. Thus is a system of Caste and relation created and only the royal family retain
the most relation to the people that once over threw the pre-human nations of the south of the old days.

Between the lands of the Picts and Aqualonian stands a land known as the Bossonian Marches. Born of the aboriginal race that they come from the Bossonian and a parental Hybori tribe, they are a people pushed to the fringe. Thanks to constant raids by Barbarians they have developed a higly defensive style of life, and thus stand as a shield against invasion. Finally below ancient Stygia stands the Black Kingdoms of the Kunutses and the Amazons. South of them stand the Empire of
Zembabwei which is a mixture of Atlaia and Kunutse people.

Thus stands the Hyborian Age, when a Cimmerian Barbarian rewrote history and became King of the greatest scion of the Hybori tribes.



Geography

Hyboria is a land of many races, many lands and nations. The world that Robert E. Howard created was ours thousands upon thousands years in the past. It has its own history and one that is rich in detail.

Note: Only four regions are open to play in Age of Conan from launch, the Barachan Isles with the isle of Tortage, Aqualonia, Cimmeria, and also Stygia. More may open in future updates and expansions, not to worry the areas in game are massive. The Primer will cover the geography of
those nations that can be found lore for.


Nations of the West


The Kingdom of Aqualonia

The height of Hybori culture, Aqualonia is a mixture of races and the single most powerful nation found in the West. It is ruled by the Barbarian King Conan, his power extends from the Capital and jewel of Aqualonia the City of Tarantia. Beyond the walls of the city and its elite guard, the Black Dragons, stand many organized and segmented villages and villas. Each is ruled by a Patriarch Noble and his family. The land is filled with politics for not all of the King's enemies are gone. Though the jewel of the west and Hyboria in many ways, Aqualonia stands on a slippery slope



The Kingdom of Argos

Argos is the most powerful of all the Hyborian nations when it comes to naval prowess and trade lanes. It's glittering cities and especially the capital of Messantia. As a naval power Argos covers trade ships across Hyboria and even into the black Kingdoms. The land is ruled by a King and below him a system of nobles. Its premiere rivals on the Western Ocean are Stygia and Zingara.



City States of Corinthia

The region known as Corinthia is a political nightmare, there is no singular King or ruler it is ruled by a Senatorial assembley. Each city is behold only to itself and has it's own loyalties and armies. The cities are notable for their armored combat in phalanx and polearmed fighting styles. As a people Corinthians are ruled by a Senatorial format with lesser Senators below Senior Senators in power. The main industries of the cities depend upon city but usually include pastoral agriculture and minor production of wool and other items. The City States are behold to the greater power of Koth.

Kingdom of Khauran

Once it was a free nation, a place where the Hyborian blooded people were free to rule themselves. Ruled by Kothic nobles, the people were forced under the rule of a nation and their power was removed. However, they overthrew their rulers and once again became a free state. After that they have been ruled by a cursed Dynasty of the Queen Askhaurian, who supposedly bedded a demon fiend. Even today it is said that a witch will be born to the royal family every century.


Vassal State of Khuraja

Khoraja is a vassal state of Koth, and it is well known for its brilliant leaders and powerful army. It also contains many trades routes connecting Koth to the South and the East.



Kingdom of Koth

The last vestiges of the ancient Acheronian Empire stand within the borders of the former Empire, now Kingdom. Koth is one of the most powerful nations in the world and it's culture is a mixture of Shemitish and Hyborian in nature. Ruled by the mad Emperor Stranbonus it is whispered that he toils in dangerous magics, he rules from the Scarlet Citadel in the City of Khorshemish. A land of many landscapes the cities of Koth tend to be built in valleys. Its prime rival is the Kingdom of
Aqualonia for power and wealth.



Kingdom of Nemedia

Most ancient of the western nations, Nemedia is said to be the very first nation of Hybori descent to form in the west. The capital of Belverus, a city surrounded by fertile rolling farmland and the orchards of its people. Nemedia is the height of learning found within Hyboria. All of the greatest scholars and learned individuals were taught in the prime academies of Nemedia. Even the oldest and most pure records of the ancient past are kept here. The primary defense of Nemedia is Aesir
mercenaries that help to defend it against its rival Aqualonia.




Kingdom of Orphir

When the world things of wealth it thinks of Orphir. A land that has neither the power and population base of Aqualonia or the Academic power of Nemedia. Orphir is a place of pure wealth, thanks to it's vast gold, silver and gem mines it even houses the greatest Jewelry makers in all of Hyboria. A land of rolling plains and hills, the military of Orphir is not powerful to defy Koth, and
thus it pays tribute to the mad Emperor.



Pictish Wilderness

The large region of unclaim land that is controlled by the same people that helped to destroy the Atlantean Kingdom of old. The wilderness is home to a vast innumerable mash of clans and tribes. The weapons used by them are either stolen from Aqualonian military or bought from Zingara. The land is a melting pot of vast jungles filled with dangerous animals.




City/Kingdom States of Shem

The lands of Shem are not united much like Corinthia, and each is ruled by a despotic and powerful king. Different cities of various regions of the area will war with those of another. Shem was once part of the Old Stygian Empire and still holds aspects from it. Today its major form of power is over land trade thanks to poor coastal power.



Empire of Turan

A large power empire found near the edges of the west, the real power of Turan is in the west and parts of the south. The mistress of the great inland sea call the Vilayet. The Empire was the result of settled Hyrkanian raiders finding interest in settlilng. A powerful nation its capital Aghrapur is the most glorious city found during the Age of Conan. Its ruler and Emperor rules from a vast palace and seat known as the Sunrise Court. Turan bears the brunt of blame for Vilayet Pirates.



Kingdom of Zamora

The land of thieves and assassins, Zamora is a place where the very land is frightened of her people. Once a land of old magical power, Zamora has fallen on hard times. Now a place where only roaming herds of sheep and goats can maintain the commoners. There is a King usually ruling in Zamora and even nobles. If the King doesn't fall to an assassin's dagger or magicians killing spell, he might as well go insane. The law of nobles is there very word in the land, and no one goes
against it upon pain of death or other cruel punishments.



Kingdom of Zingara

The King has no rule in Zingara, and only partial word of obedience is given to the princeling lords of the land. The land is torn constantly by the strife by the various and yet it is rich land. The greatest pirates and most dangerous are born in Zingara and even its natural navy rivals Argos and Stygia in power.

Nations of the East

Lands of Hyrkania

A land of grass and ever expanding wilderness and wasteland. The land of Hyrkania is split into wayward traveling tribes of people descended from those that overthrew their pre-human rulers in the far east long ago. Ruled by tribal chiefs called Kagans the tribes have no united leader. When one does unite them the Ushi-Kagan, Hyrkania becomes a land where no army may pass without harm or without being obliterated. The tribes are completely nomadic but each tribe has a kahaba, a City of Mounds, an area where the Kagans' bodies are put to rest. No invader ever leaves these
Kahaba alive when venturing in.



Kingdom of Kambuja

A small yet magically powerful nation, Kambuja is ruled by the god-king, a powerful sorcerer known as Pra-Eun. Though ruling the Kingdoms top society of Magic, the Scarlet Circle, Pra-Eun is not the ruler of the Circle. Added to that he must contend with a rival Khitai society known as the Dragon-Sons. With this in hand Kambuja is constantly under threat from being invaded by one of the city states of Khitai, or being undone by its sorcerers own ruler, the supreme master Ya Chieng.



Ancient Empire of Khitai

Khitai is not ruled by a King or by an Emperor, and yet its people are united in order and action. Each city is ruled by its own nobles, politicians, scholars and its Warlord. The cities of all of Khitai may war, but the army of the nation is vastly powerful and is usually one being. Fielding its own Sorcerer Societies, it is home to the master of the Scarlet Circle, Ya Chieng who is from one of the primary cities, Paikang. Along with the cities of Shu-Chen, and Ruo-Chen, the country is in constant war with the Kingdom of Kambuaj, whose god-kings have always battled for the right to rule the Scarlet Circle.



Kingdom of Kusan

A realm of Khitani origin and backing, the nation of Kusan is ruled by its own King, and noble factions. It is well known for its diplomats and politicans, the most adept said to be in the age, to deal with most of its problems. The army of Kusan is mildy powerful and shows one reason why it prefers words to swords.



Theocracy of Meru

A small nation found in the large and massive mountain range called the Himelians, it is a place of cold eye priests and silent people. From a valley called the Cup of the Gods rules the priesthood of the king of all demons, Yama. The people of Meru, the Meruvians worship Yama and follow his way, even believing that he created them.



Lost Kingdom of Uttara Kuru

The city is lost, and the kingdom is lost. Ancient enemy of Vendhya, Uttara Kuru has been forgotten by time. Only in tales of old magics and wars does the name even come to be mention. The Kingdom does exist and its citizens are fanatical in (the devotion to the homeland.



Nations of the South

Black Kingdoms

A region of various rulers and tribes, the Black Kingdoms is home to the Amazons. The Black Kingdoms is a term also given to the various nations of Kunutse peoples and other tribal groups found south of Stygia. Other regions are ruled by differing clans and tribes.



Tribe lands of Darfar

The land where the demon of Elder Night, Yog is worshipped by cannibalistic followers, Darfar is not united. It is not a real country, merely a region for a singular religion and cult like nature nature has taken hold to rule the various tribes found in the area. From slave takers to cannibalistic head hunters the Darfari are a people to be feared and respected. Though many stygians may regard that statement as idiotic, Darfar is a land of chaos and much blood.



Tribes of Ghulistan

A people found in the lands of the Himelians Moutains. Their lands are found in the Southwestern regions of the mountain range. Their lands lie North of Kosala and the west of Vendhya. The country is a myriad of mixing tribes and exists solely by racial relationship of the tribes in question. The most well known tribes include the Afghuli who raid the borders of Vendhya and the Wazuli tribesmen. In a tribe, the strongest warrior leads, if he falters, he is quickly deposed.



Kingdom of Iranistan

A nation found south of the Vilayet Sea, the nation is ruled from the prosperous city of Anshan. From here the King of Iranistan is only able to consolidate his horde of varying tribal vassals through constant thread of invasion from the Empire of Turan. Tribal ruler ship is so complex that a chief or leader may change his judgment upon a reliance on ancestral land. The power of Anshan works as well as the King can keep control of the tribes.



Kingdom of Keshan

A country found in the depths of the dark continental south, Keshan is a place of savage beauty and barbaric splendor. The rulers of the country, the noble class and priesthood claim to be blood of the ancient city of Alkeemon. A well organized city it deals with minor raids from Stygia, but mostly goes to war and fights off sorties from neighboring punt.

Kingdom of Kosala

Descended from an ancient and hard race, the Kosalaons are a people not even close to becoming soft. Known for their power in old magics from the elder times, the people of Kosala may not be great fighters but they are feaverishly devoted to the defense of their land. Kosala is interconnected to Vendhya thanks to marriage and treaties.



Kingdom of Kush

Seldom raided by slavers other than its northern cousins, Kush is a place rarely heard of. One of the
actual Kingdoms found in the Black Kingdoms it is rarely heard of outside of the northern most part of the Southern continental region of Hyboria. Home to civilized members of the Kunutse race, the Kingdom is a proud nation. Those that do encounter the nation usually find it on the edge of their travels south of Stygia. The capital of the nation is the city of Meroe found in the grassy plains in the midlands of Kush.




Kingdom of Punt

Arch rival of Keshan, Punt is a country in the shadow of Zembabwei. With gold filled hills that might bring it great wealth the country is interested in establishing itself as the most powerful of the Black Kingdoms. The country could gain much power if it could its two rivals aside and find a path to the gold devouring markets of the West.




Kingdom of Vendhya

A proud and old Kingdom, Vendhya is found in the foothills of the Himelian Mountains. The countryside is covered with thick jungles that are untamed by neither human nor any other. A country about to burst, it has not where to go. With the diplomats of Uttara Kuru in the south, Ghulistani tribesmen pegging it up in the north, and Kosala to the west. It even hosts its own
form of strange and terrible magics. Only time will tell if the drums of war will resound in the south.



Empire of Zembabwei

A great power rising from the farthest reaches of the South and the Black Kingdoms. A people of Kunutse blood, the Empire rules vast regions in the Black Kingdoms and puts pressure upon the Kingdom of Punt on its northern border. The Empire's real power resides in its command of deadly flying reptiles that reside within the middle lands of its realm.



Nations of the North

Icy Realm of Asgard

Home of the might Aesir warriors, reavers of the frozen North. Asgard is home to a plethora of clans they are a people without any unifying leader like many racial groups. Controlled by a three way shield formed from the Hyperboreans in the East, the Cimmerians in the South, and the Vanir in the West. Asgard is a very cold and desolate realm, thus breeding a people with a love of
violence and warfare.


Border Kingdom

The place of constant war fare and really no known ruler, the Border Kingdom is a region where only the mighty may rule the various regions of the land.



Kingdom of Brythuria

There is a King, but he only rules his city. There are nobles and they only give name to their King. Thus is the land of Brythuria, a place where the women are said to be sleepers, and the men dim witted oafs. The cities and towns are controlled by powerful yet always fighting noble houses. And it is in this austere atmosphere that is constant for Brythuria.



Misty Lands of Cimmeria

The dark filled lands of misty mountains and humid forests. Cimmeria is a land yet tamed or taken by others from the outside. Upon its back sit the mighty Eiglophian Mountains, one of which is home to the lands Grim God, Crom of the Grey Mound. The land itself makes the hardest and grimmest warriors in the West and North. With constant raids from Picts, Hyperboreans and Vanir,
the very ground is fertilized by the blood of these invaders.



Kingdom of Hyperborea

The oldest of known Kingdoms of Hybori descent, the land is grim, grimmer than Cimmeria. The lowest of men live and squalor, outside the great keeps and fortresses of the nobles. The rule of Hyperborea lands into the magical society of the frozen north, the White Hand. With its deadly witch-men and witch-women rulers, the White Hand controls Hyperborea with a order of deadly
assassins at its command. Across the River of Ice Death stands the single most deadly of the nations of the Hyborian Age. And it waits for a time that it might strike.

Northern Realm of Vanaheim

From the icy glaciers in the east to the various coastal enclaves that subsist off beach coming and hunting. The land of Vanaheim born many a great warrior and the Vanir were a people of great battle prowess. With their enemies the Cimmerians to the South, and their cousins to the East, there was no short in the amount of battle a Vanir warrior could find.





Races of Hyboria

The races of Hyboria are human in nature, and they are not different than each other other than appearance and culture. Howard built his stories to have a history that would bleed into the world of Hyboria. Each race has an ancestral people that it springs from and each has common ties fictionally to the people of today.


Note: Only Stygian, Cimmerian, and Aqualonian are available at launch for playable races. The Primer will cover most known races found within Hyboria so people may have more flavor to their RP.


Races of the West


The Argosseans


A race of short stocky bodies with darkish skin and curled dark hair. The Argosseans are of Hybori mixed descent. Their culture resides around the coasts of the Nation of Argos. A might people at sea, they are only rivaled by the Stygians and or the Zingarans. A system of courts controlled by noble judges is the common form of law. The primary religions are Mitraic in basis, but there are also some worship of the Serpent God Set, and the thieving God Bel from Shem



The Aqualonians

The appearance of the ancient Hybori lines is evident in the appearance and race of the Aqualonians. Tawny haired and tall and pale skinned, they are if not the spitting image of their ancient ancestors. Though the race of Aqualonia has mixed thus resulting in varying complexion
among its citizens, it is still in the province of Gunderland, that the Hybori blood runs pure. The primary and in many ways sole god of Aqualonia is Mitra. Aqualonians have a well organized culture of rule through Houses and noble families and their court system is that similar to other Hyborian nations of the west.



The Corinthians

A people that have tawny hair and a stout power build, the Corintinians retain a darker complexion from their mixing with the people of Zamora. As a people the Corinthians are a divided people and rule each other in Senate lead city states much like the ancient greeks. The power of a Senator is derived from his political clout and wealth. The people of Corinthian city states follow Mitra as their primary god, but also have a scattering of Turan and Shem deities. Temples vary in size, but in a common city, they are in the political center.



The Khaurani

A people that have been fully saturated by the Hyborian and Shemitish mixing of Koth, the Khaurani are a people who just retained freedom. Once a principality under the rule of the Made Emperors of Koth, the Khaurani attained freedom. It is still ruled by a Kothian nobility and
their royal dynasty is cursed.



The Kothians

A people of an old and in many ways dying empire, the Kothians are a mixture of Shemitish and Hyborian strains. A people of dark to brown eyes, the Kothians have a tan bronze skin and dark hair. The Kothians are a heavily taxed people that causes many to become angry with the leadership. The leader, Strabonus, is called the Mad Emperor, for his constant breaking and remaking of treaties.



The Nemedians

They are the most ancient of Hybori western races, they are the Nemedians. With a tall stature, and light hair, the people of Nemedia have grey to bluish eyes. These traits mark them as a partially pure strain of the Hybori tribal descent. As a people, their feudal system is the most restrict of all the forms of rule in the west, all swear undying loyalty to their liege lord and all titles are passed directly to the oldest son by blood. No heir means a long jump through a vast system of rules and laws. The Nemedians are also best known for their incredible knowledge and their country is renowned for its teaching and historical documentation. The state is also the most liberal with its slavery and religion, Mitra is the state religion but others are easily allowed.



The Ophirians

A lean people with dusky tannish skin, and dark hair, the natives of Ophir are rich and generous. As a people the people of Ophir live in the rolling hills and open plains of their small country. Devout worshippers of Mitra there are small villages that contain nature worshippers. As a nation Ophir is vastly wealthy and the very guard of the main capital city are gilded with gold.



The Picts

A people that caused the fall of the Atlantean Kingdom and the fall of the suriving pre-cataclysmic cultures, the Picts are a lean, stocky people with dark hair and eyes. Horribly primitive they have neither evolved nor devolved since their ancient war with the Cimmerians long ago. To this day they live in a brash horde of fractured tribes, their fighting style and philosophy points to whatever means necessary to win. This plays into the concept of savage worship of the dark totem gods of the tribes. Their only weapons are primitive stone and metal items or those stolen from Zingaran or Aqualonian soldiers.

The Shemitish

They are the sons of Shem, a people whose blood has mixed and spread far and wide they are a tall broad people with dusky skin, hooked noses and blue to brown eyes. The Shemitish are a mixed people worshipping many gods and goddesses. The primary of those worshipped are the Earth Goddesses, Derketo, Ishtar, and Ashtoreth. With their form of fractured broken government, the
Shemitish vary in culture but tend to follow a system of despotic rule.



The Turanians

One of the three most powerful nations in the world of Hyboria, Turan is proud to host a people of Hyrkanian, therefore Lemurian descent. A people of hooked noses and mysterious women. The Turanians are a people very confusing to those who live in the farther parts of the west. Within Turanian culture women must wear veils and cloaks to hide their faces in public. The harems of
Turan are renknowned and it is no uncommon to find human chattel being sold in the local marketplace. If a woman is found outside in the streets and places of Turan, she may be reprimanded by the head male leader of her family.



The Zamorans

A people resulting from the mixture of western and eastern race and culture, Zamora is a land of thieves, crazed mages and assassins. All Zamorans wear loose fitting robes and are known for their dark skin, hair and strange stark eyes. Within Zamoran society it is a cut throat survivalist system of those gaining to create and retain power. Punishments mete out by the nobles are harsh and to the point. The primary god of this land is said to be the Shemitish god Bel, the Lord of Thieves. There are other gods in this region, including Zath, the spider god of Yezud.



The Zingarans

The Valley of Zingg is a place of rogues and pirate princes. The original inhabitants where perhaps a people of Shemitish blood. Over time a pictish invasion and interbreeding with these lowland valley men, lead to the creation of the pirate thieving race of Zingara The people are tanned skin with tight curling dark hair.. As a people the Zingarans are horribly chaotic, punishment is brutal and quick. As a people the Zingarans are horribly independent and most likely the main reason why
they have not united. They have a king but most nobles or princes pay little or no attention to the throne. Mitra worship has a small minor foothold and the country mainly pays lip service to the god.

Very nice post indeed. I have been slacking when it comes to reading the Conan books, but this is a very nice post(s) even if you don't intend to roleplay. Thanks for bringing it to us. The aoc wiki you mentioned, could I possible ask for the url as well?
