One think I've noticed already now, even though AoC has only been out a few weeks, is that we have an increasing number of people rolling on Roleplaying servers with no idea that it is an RP server or even what RP is.
Now, at the moment other than saying (RP-PvE) or (RP-PvP), there's no indication that it is an RP server, or what RP is.
Now, from my time on another MMO, a flood of people who didnt even know what RP was lead to sitations where we couldn't RP in certain areas (starter town fo humans for example) because it was flooded with people who had no respect for RP whatsoever.

Now, Im aware at the moment we cant do much about those already here due to there being a staff shortage issues so petitions can't get resolved fast.

However, something such as a pop-up when clicking create character when selecting an RP server that says "THIS IS A ROLEPLAYING SERVER" (or something) and goes on to explain, briefly, what RP is and what additional rules apply here.

RP on AoC so far seems to be awesome, and I'd hate to see it ruined by inconsiderate and often disrespectful people who don't listen to anyone just because they didnt pay attention to the server they rolled on.

Lets not give them any excuse, and make it so they can't possibly have not known they were rolling on a Roleplaying server, so then it is a simple process of dealing with people who break RP policy without big amounts of drama about people who "just made a mistake."

Couldnt agree more with you on this, though I would say that this should go for PvE and PvP to.
I know what PvP and PvE means and what it's effects are, but not all people do, so a pop-up when you chose server, with a brief description of PvE, PvP and RP would be awsome.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. We can enforce roleplay, but this'll filter so many people. And atleast never include Roleplaying servers on a recommended list. That really throws people who have no clue what roleplaying is our way in the hundreds.

2. Roleplaying
3. Realm PvP


What does D&D stand for?
1. Dungeons and Dragons.
2. Slang for a girl toon who has maxed her boobs.
3. Dark templars and Demonologists.

What does IC stand for?

1. lol
2. In Character
3. noob

This would be a great way to limit n00bs from rolling on the wrong server and enforcing the rules while decreasing the millions of petitions recived every single day.

Agree 100%.

The trouble is people don't know what RP stands for. My friends are not really into PC games, however recently dipped their toes into online games but they didn't have a clue what PVE/PVP/RP meant.

A clearer explanation would save everyone a lot of confusion and problems in the future.

In the scheme of it these are far from bad RP names.

So someone comes up to you called Silent Skye (obviously two words, but we cant have that) and you think 'non RPers, pff...'. Then their three friends come over and they're called:

Running Bear
Little Foot
Dark Wolf

And it just happens to be that they're in some Native Indian-esq guild and suddenly the name actually become quite appropruate.

It's all about context and some folk really need to ease up on the reigns. Now, that isn't to say I didn't kill the same guy twice yesterday for being called RonMcClown or something equally stupid.


As to the OP, I think an easy solution would be on the loading screen have some text of what RP is, or what the RP rules are. It'll pop up from time to time, and you have nothing better to do than read it when waiting for a load.
