Default Weird problem with patcher

Every time I start the game with the conan.exe or any of the patchers, it doesnt matter which one, the patcher ofcourse checks my file, which is normal. However, after that is done, it always start to download what looks to be the same file, one which has the size 3.79MB. Everysingle time i start the game... why is this ?
If that was the only problem, then no big deal, but because the patcher stops dead in its track, what should take 30 secs to get, takes 10-30 minutes.
Anyone know what is causing this repeated download of the same file, and the pausing of the patcher ?

Best regards

Default Patcher dong itself

Hey,

Have same problem patcher downloads itself extracts and starts again infinate.
Patchar crates files like ConanPatcher.exe.0.tmp, ConanPatcher.exe.1.tmp ... etc in game directory.

What can i do to prevent this?

I got the same error and I replied to another post regarding this problem last night but now I cant find it anywhere (deleted).

The tips in the FAQ regarding how to start without running the patcher works for me to resolve the patching forever thing but the problem still persists when trying again after quitting the game.

I can only guess at this time, but I disagree with the whole idea of scanning my local files in order to see if there's an update available to any files.

What I see happening:
* Patcher searches local files and compares them to a online list to check for updates
* Patcher downloads new files as needed and updates these
* Patcher fails in replacing old files or updating the reference/updated state for some reason
* Game launcher senses files not up to date and starts up the patcher to update client.
* Go back to top repeat loop.

I've tried running as administrator (Vista) and I've tried not doing it, neither has impact.

Things yet untried: Moving Age Of Conan out of Program files folder (C:\AoC etc)

Hei,

I have the same problem here.
What I recognized is the following:

1) starting AgeofConan.exe
2) ConanPatcher.exe starts and checks local files
3) importing contentlist
4) updating content
it started with a bit over 400MB and over 4000 Files
5) starts downloading stops between 700kB and 4MB,
after waiting 10 minutes or even more, it is maybe at 5MB,
let it run over night 9MB, let it run over another night 15MB
and so on
6) At days I always stop it after some while, kill the process
(because it stucks still at 50% CPU) wait some secs until the process
really ends, start AgeofConan.exe again.
7) Some times some of the downloaded files worked,
so the MB and File Counter decreased
At the moment I`m at 349MB and 3670 Files (after DAYS !!!!)
(I have a 25Mb cable internet, so don't come with bandwith jokes)

As mentioned before, it seems that the patcher can't overwrite old files.
When I take a look at the patcher.log, here are some messages:

[2008-05-20 23:44:42,0] [ResourceManager] Resource 1030002:222463 does not exist in any available RDB sources.

[2008-05-21 10:13:27,0] [RDBManager] failed to apply resource patch

So, this no filename provided and the failed to apply resource patch (inkl. match old hash) are the most entries in my log. (I'm EU, that's why the update server is EU)
I hope you find a reason for that.

Does it seem that only Vista Users have this problem?
I have Vista 64Bit.

Please solve it, I would be able to play since days but I can't !!!!

PS.: I tried every mentioned workaround in the forum, including ports at firewall, flushdns, removing conanpatcher and start patchersetup again, installed it 3 times new, did verify/repair three times, and so on...

I tried looking in the FAQ, and it mentions it in the overview of the FAQ, but down where the info should be, it is missing.
Anyway someone remembered what to do, so I can run without the patcher ? Hate to patch 1 hour everytime i want to play....

Thumbs up A fix!

I had this problem, and found the fix on another thread.
Anti virus scanning software interferes with file writing.
Disable it and try again.
