Thats disapointing! I feel my character really needs something like that. It seems to me from what I've seen of other classes in the game that they can take on multiple mobs of there own lvl quite comfortably, but when I try it I'm as good as dead. I tend to run out of mana before the end due to the inordinate amount of resists the mobs have to lighting strike, even if I use a shield I still take lots of damage and thats with both heals ticking away! A damage shield or 'armour' shield would have been nice.
Why did they take it away?
I just found this from the 1.05 notes:-
The following buffs have been removed from the game. Bonuses formerly granted by these buffs have been added to other buffs/spells:
Grizzled Hide (Bear Shaman)
Infernal Knowledge (Demonologist)
Diabolic Insight (Demonologist)
Mark of Dagon (Demonologist)
Sign of Xotli (Herald of Xotli)
Vile Insight (Necromancer)
Dark Knowledge (Necromancer)
Bone Ward (Necromancer)
Shielding Litany (Priest of Mitra)
Set's Armor (Tempest of Set)
I mentions that the bonuses for Set's Armour have been added elsewere but were exactley?

Sets armor gave you pure defense rating, a stat that doesnt exist in the game anymore after the update of the game mechanics in 1.05.
Yes, the tos do feel a bit squishy at some level ranges, but as soon as you get Storm Field and spec for a pbaoe build you will do better. Focus on that, make sure you have the best armor available at all times, and go 1HB + Shield instead of staff/polearm if you still feel squishy.
