Default the aim-cross in POV

I'm writing this question here, since the ranger is "the" ranged character for exellence.

I noticed that when you use a whatever ranged weapon, and you zoom at max, till first person point of view, appears an aiming cross on the screen, like in games as Unreal or such.

Now i wonder, since it's enough you target the enemy and click on an attack to damage him, has this aiming cross any real purpose?

Shooting from first person gives you a range increase. Often when you get a "target out of range" message in third person, you can still hit it in first person

Also very handy if you can only see part of the target you can switch to POV mode and fire off an arrow at part of the enemy and then zoom back oput again.
