Evening all. I'm planning on rolling a Cimmerian Ranger on the Corinthia server (RP- PvP) and am thinking, albeit loosely, of the character. The basic idea is a Cimmerian who loathes Stygians. Now as we all play the same starting zone and our past is pretty much decided for us due to the story line, I was thinking whether it would be acceptable just to ignore the first 20 levels of the game from a RP perspective. It's pretty immersion breaking if we're all "The Chosen One" with exactly the same background.

Instead, I see my characters history as Slave on a Stygian galley, hits Tortega and manages to wangle his/her way off the Island through some piece of daring do. As the server I'm planning on would be FFA PvP, I'd hope to gain some RP nemesis through my slaughter of all things Stygian. So I pretty much have 2 questions. !) Is this RP "liberty" generally acceptable and 2) Would my exclusive targetting of Stygians break some rule I'm unawate of. Haressment, Discrimination etc. I'm not proposing spawn camping or any other destructive pasttime, just straight up, arrows from Stealth PvP.

So if you have any ideas, comments etc please let me know and I thank you for your time

If you wana kill them you need to have a reason. killing in the starting area I would not do, its a fast grind to 20 and not much rp going on there anyways.

instead I would if I were you, play ooc till 20 and away from the isle, then you can go on your quest to kill but always make damn shure to them that you are a role-player and not some ganker. Use spatial chat and pref become part of a guild that has the same ideas.

also remember that for you to level up you will go to the lands your character hates so much. tons of npcs to talk to.

to that reason I would advice to take a defensive stance but not kill everyone on sight.

how else can you explain that you kill that player while on a quest but are still doing jobs for others of the same race.. npcs

And a general pvp tip: people remember your name. kill that lvl 15 guy and you can expect when he is level 50 he will attack you whiteout warning. .. action and consequence

I do think many people go for alternative history and it is not only acceptable, but even needed, else it would look silly. My character for example wasnt slave at all yet.

As for Stygians, I do share very similiar agenda. As a Cimmerian I really hate all the undead promenading in our lands, same as demons. Therefore I started to kill those undead and demons (these are monsters after all), if the Stygian summoner in questions steps in, he or she follows the minions to the grave (or kill me, of course, as the outcome is to be ultimately decided by our skill). Even made it clear for them at times that I aproached them and told them that they should leave the dead to rest or they will join them by my blade. Surprisingly it often worked and bow to bravery of all necromancers who went on fighting without their main weapon summoned (at least while I was in sight).

Stygians have tough predicament in life in Hybori, since their life is largely different from other two lands. Anyone rolling them should be ready that they will be mocked, taunted and generaly disliked at many places. But that just springs some good RP as long as staying only on IC level as it should be.

You see this is exactly what i want. I'd love to have a IC nemesis, an enemy that sees me and immediately seeks my downfall. But thanks for the advice all. If I'm being honest, I don't really see Tortega as being part of the RP experience. To me, the game starts when I hit Conalls valley. I don't think I'll be PvPing in Tortuga as I just want to get the hell out of there as quickly as possible
