They did when server went down for 24hours or so when they merged servers. Can't remember exactly when that was.
Currently the servers have only been down for around 4h it would be ridiculous to give players a awesome 6 hours extra play-time.

I absolutely understand the frustration over the additional downtime needed for this hotfix now. We would very much have preferred to not having to take the servers down but we had to in order to fix the issue which prevented players from connecting to the game servers.

We will keep you up to date about any chances and new information as soon as it gets available.

The double xp weekend was an example of how the developers can make it up to the players. Yes all mmo's have bugs, but they also make it up to the players when they screw up. Since Funcom like to charge for absolutely everything worth having, the least they can do is throw in some sort of freebie by way of apology. And i don't give a toss whether the lamo apologist suck ups on this board agree with me or not :P

The double XP weekend will ruin the low-level instance and levelling even more. Do not ever enforce that. I was disgusted at Battlefield 3 because of the first double XP weekend and left it. It is not a good way to satisfy people.

Sidenote: nothing can be done to satisfy everyone. Do not ask for anything, or others will ask for more next or this time. When they get everything, they will complain on boredom. Enjoy your day out in the sun.

Your advice sounds like this one (which is my opinion):
"Just... Remove offline levels and double XP potions. That will be a nice compensation for me."

Again, no compensation will satisfy anyone. Just leave it out and rest.
