Thumbs down less than a month and had enough of the bugs and lag

why is it that this game has not been fixed?

i love it apart from the many bugs and the lag that appears always while in combat so you can get killed.

on average i get kicked out of the game at least 10 times a day, and generally have to crash it myself a few times as character gets stuck.

In a new game i can understand having as many problems, but this is not a new game.

Unfortunately, AOC gets a huge thumbs down for a great game made unusable too much of the time...shame on you.

I am now looking for another game.

Default Well..

You have to understand that it might not ALL be game related,as i have almost no issues with lag as long as my isp is ok.And i very rarely crash theese days.

some of the the problems you have might be on your end.
(not saying the game is bugfree...lol)

Gl luck finding anything remotely as interesting as this combatwise.

Last time I crashed was ~2 years ago, before I switched to W7.

The game needs powerful machines to run (or just clever system setups), many people have problems with stability because of their system.

Disconnects and lags? I get disconnected once a week on average, lags happen from time to time (2-3 second stall once an hour) and sometimes are annoying (when they happen in a really bad moment) - but I would be stupid to hate on AoC just because of that, knowing how other games behave.

Can you give details about those gamebraking bugs? How does one fix a game?

4 gigs of RAM minimum to run the game really. But i recommend 8 gigs as it allows the computer to breathe as well

It runs with 2gb and winxp for me, but i have settings on low (except textures) and disabled music (this stopped the crashes on load screen every second/third transition).
The game has issues with loading abilities, animations (or sounds) and npcs (or players) in time without lag, so i usually try to do the fast moving and activation of abilities before any important fight and it sometimes helps even. Also don't try fighting within the first minutes you entered a zone...pick an easy fight first and you might avoid the mobs using the "instalagkill" ability.
There had been some mobs that always create lag, but they get fixed eventually or changed with patches (there was one in dead mans hand who always froze the game and killed you, but it seemed to work last time i was there).
I don't know how much you already played with settings, but disabling the level of npcs shown in vicinity or tags, 3d numbers, changing view distances or changing the background downloading speed can help with some issues as well.

But at least you know you're running a sub-optimal spec and you play by the rules.

BTW: I know a few people with "worse" parts than in my PC, but with better overall performance. F.e. basically the same spec as mine, but with HD5770 instead of GTX470 -and 5770 runs better on the same settings.

for me, after maybe 6 months without "cleaning" the pc (formatting the hard drive for example), the game crashes or "lags" (not connection lag) a lot more...

so, with a "clean" computer the game runs great (full graphics settings since i have a good machine) apart from he know bugs (PRISON COLONY)...

a lot of the game problems come from you not taking "care" of your computer and from your connection:
- lots of people install for example toolbars for browsing "without knowing" it and fill the pc with garbage in the hard drive
- programs not important for the computer but are running in background filling the memory
- ISP from your location "locks" internet connection
- internet connection shared (not dsl for example)

I have seen lots of players from south america playing in european servers (spanish language mostly), maybe because there are spanish guilds in these servers, but, the problem is it creates a lot of lag for those players because they are very far from the servers...if this is your case, start playing on sn US server and see if makes a difference...

I myself play from South Africa and find my latency better on US servers than EU. On EU 350ms on US 150ms, 200ms difference but due to timezones we are locked on EU servers when purchasing MMO'S. All and all if you started game in 2008 you wouldnt be complaining now

I have a new Dell XPS 8300, i7-2600 CPU at 3.4Ghz, 16GB RAM, Win7 Home (running in 64bit), 2gb graphics card, and internet access is http://www.speedtest.net/result/1953933906.png

If i need anymore to run a game, i would be very surprised.

for 20 years i was in pc/networking support as a job...i know a little about pc setup.
