Not to mention the hype about Diablo 3.
And ArenaNet have carved out a nice niche for themselves with their image as innovators. Which in turn gets them some good coverage.
Truth is, we would probably need a significant influx of new players for Funcom to devote more resources to this game. But with Funcom not exactly trying hard to sell it, people are certainly right to wonder where the new players should come from.
All that said, if it is difficult for FC to accomodate for an online feat planner tool within the resources allocated to AOC, the situation is more dire than I thought.

The prob is that especially Buffed is living from WOW, it started originally as a WOW-Database. Also for most MMO-Gamers there is only WOW. These MMOS will eat alot of your time and who does want not to play the best game than?
I mean WOW is definately not the best game out there but yet no MMO portal or magazine dares to acknowledge that as they will quickly anger the fanboys otherwise(Yeah a rating of 95 % as the last one given by Buffed).
This is especially true for print magazines as they are mostly financed through advertising. Also every big publishing company has at least one WOW/Runes of Magic/SWTOR magazine in their sortiment.
So do you really believe that any writer working for such a company is allowed to publish a critical view which might endanger their golden cow? If you were such a writer, good luck finding a new job.
Funcom has alot of potential with TSW as it seems to fill a niche, which is not yet occupied, like it happened with WOW back in 2004. If they make this right this might rekindle interest in AOC again.
Development would be easier as well, as both games use the same engine now, though I can imagine that TSW might use a more advanced version simply because it is still in developement. Funcom can test and adjust things there quite easily.
As for resources: They have a set deadline with TSW, there is no set deadline for AOC, unless you count games like GW2 who have not even received a release dat yet.
I´m sure Funcom will pick up the development speed after TSW has been sucessfully launched. Heck, we AOC Players will not even have to feel like guinea pigs anymore as single server tech will be tested for TSW first.
