Crit 30% less for some reason... This is not fact, this is feeling. If your crit rating is the same, then it will crit the same. There is no possibility it acts different.

Now, reference to 1K, 1.2K, 1.4K means nothing, sometime with the same weapon I'll crit for 3x2K and sometimes for 3x1.5K, it's not a matter of weapon it's a matter of how many buffs you have running when that happens.

A 4 minutes strawman test is generally a good way to test, or a very well known boss. However DT's dps is random, especially with average crit rating (12-15%). It starts to be normalized at around >18% crit rating.

However, Blossoming Death, better dps, crit rating, hate increase, and hit rating. You may play a DT, so are a lot of people, but that doesn't make your point right

I know this cause.. I play a DT yo.

If I didn´t have a Ibis on my DT I would go for the Blossoming Death without blinking due to crit rating and more dmg leading to more health tap.

The main reason to get a Ibis is the damage and the additional health tap. The two other gems people usually put into the weapon is "CHANCE TO PROC" gems. The Indom stuff is pure **** since it procs like what? Two times a minute. Break that down in dmg you recieve in 1 minute, the number of hits you recieve. Remove 2 of those hits. There´s your number. Total ****. Oh hai, my gem ate 2 miasma hits. LIFESAVER!

The yellow stuff is nerfed, but still a fun trivial proc. Its not needed by any means, tanking nor pvping. Put some reliable gems into it. Combat rating, magic dmg and crit rating. Don´t sit there and cross your fingers for procs.

I use Blossoming Death on my DT.
I don't have Ibis but played and tabked many times with DTs with similar gear (Kithai epic gear and accessories) and with Ibis (correctly gemmed).

I almost never see the other DT parsing significantly better than me about DPS (almost the same) or having more aggro than me (again, never felt almost any difference).

In PvE Blossoming is definitely on pair with Ibis for tanking work and a tiny bit better than t3 weapon in my opinion.

Ibis as uba best tanking weapon > all for DT is highly overrated and definitely wrong.
Also consider that with last patch moonstone has been nerfed (dunno how much, but it's reported in patch notes).

Correct answer: yes if he prefers to farm shards (no more than 10, for 20 Maniacal Harm is better..) and run W3 HM instead of farming HMs for rares.
Or yes if has no acces to T3 to get T3 weapon.

Is Ibis mandatory? No

Personally for me shard farming is too boring, I really prefer to run 100 HMs than spend 4h in shard farming.

But tbh I really do not care about Ibis on DT, I'd prefer to spend shards on Mirror shield..

EDIT: btw.. good stats on Ibis: Crit Rating (whit crit gem, it's a must), CDR, Health Tap, and magic damage penetration proc indeed. But: no strength (thus no +armor), no hate increase, no hit rating (it is useful too.. may happen to miss a combo..), base DPS just in pair with Kithai 1h blunt(s) (1 DPS difference is nothing).

Nerfed down to lasting half the time and only gives half the spell penetration afaik.

Not only that. It is worthless for heralds now - the spell penetration could be not a problem, but the double time reduction on the effect is. I just do not have time to cast a spell after finishing my combo.
