I grew up with D1 and 2 .. but somehow this new one leaves me thinking of the 1st 2 rather then wanting to play D3.

A bit like Heroes of M&M 4 and 5 after 3. Tho the last one , HMM 6 is rather good, a bit like 3rd one.

The gap between D2 and D3 is huge, makes D2 feel like playing with lego, mainly in the aspect of NPC AI and art.

Agree, and mechanics of D3 are just better in general

Eh? You mean that D2 is regular Lego and D3 is Duplo - at least regarding art?

There's a thing that I dont understand ... creators of Diablo did Torchlight after, right ? just look at the graphics there, and you'll see that D3 simply adapted to it but with all the original universe of Diablo on top.

Feeling is the same, it's dark and enjoyable, even if it's colorfull ... seem that people already forgot what was beyond act I in Diablo 2 or ?

D1 had some really basic fantasy stuff like demons, undead etc. and this minimalism was good. D2 was more colorful and had stuff like funny pigmy tribals etc. - they shouldn't go farther that than in art, but they unfortunately did.

At least Bethesda went back to the gritty, realistic art - Oblivion was just silly

Changed the realistic art style to cartoony? Looks like D2 with Torchlight shader mod

D2 added some cartoony content to D1, but kep the style. D3 is full transformation - content and style.

Mind you, I like non-realistic styles - but it has to be original. WoW/D3/Torchlight and a shtiload of other games looks like Disney cartoons.

They just changed the art a bit yes, but the feeling is the same. Creatures, spells, bloody action (gameplay is more brutal than Diablo 1 & 2) , didnt see "shiny" ennemies yet, only "enlightened" set up with another graphic style.
