Have to say that the more i see this thing the less it appeals to me. It will be a good game i am sure, but i think i will give it a miss tbh.

But i hope it will be great because then maybe we will finally be rid of WoW. That is the dinosaur that needs to die at long last.

GW will affect AoC far far far more than WoW.

99% of pvpers will be gone, most likely half the population in general, swtor was small change in comparison ... alas. SO I hope it sucks arse big time, and has a worse launch that even FC managed to pull off with this.

I just can't even see myself playing GW, pandas with 10 foot swords, wtf is that asura rat thing?, seizure inducing flashes of light everywhere .. uubbbeeeer size damage numbers ...

Except for asura, i think you are thinking about tera. Weapons in gw2 is pretty much like weapons in aoc, they are not overdone. Theres no pandas, and damage numbers is not high / big. Tera on the other hand....

Perhaps you match more with TSW, no in GW2.

I think GW2 will afect a lot to Aoc, and SWTOR and all the games.

SWTOR will lost a lot of subs too, because i think great part of the community of all the games is tired of "wow gameplay".

I dont know if i am wrong, but think nowdays a game based in theme-park (ala wow or Everquest), will have a failure against other style of games, because they are usudED a lot the same formula (all the game companies), and a lot of people is tired of the same.

For example, ArcheAge,GW2, TSW, Games of Thrones, all the new games take away the old style and offer something of innovation.

Agree with Misy there, anyway if someone is interested in a one year old Video about the future of MMOs:
http://extra-credits.net/episodes/the-future-of-mmos/

Its pretty interesting and shows why you mainly get WoW Clones out of every new MMORPG (as if most of us didnt knew this already ^^)

This was interesting video indeed and a had lot of truth in it. Agree with the guy that WoW is pretty much too monopolistic and it is BAD! Making different kind of MMOs (gief new low fantasy MMORPG please designed not by a ignorant PvE-focused company!) is the way to go but not the only one. The other one is the way GW2 chose - making the gameplay and mechanics very different. It's still high fantasy but it's not a WoW clone at the same time.
Sadly there are still too many things that are copied in a bit different form, still remaining same things. Example - targeting, non-solid character/NPC models, instanced PvE and PvP content (yes there are still those 5v5 "battleground-o-arenas", dependancy on gear (they say it's low but it still presents) and many more.
And of course as all such games I didn't hear anything about roleplaying support. Yes I know we're a minority but it's still nice if we're remembered somehow. We need soooo little to be happy. I hope I'm wrong here of course.

GW2 targeting is nonexistant, only reason to have a target is to keep track of the guy you are fightings health, other than that you are going to do just as fine without a target.

Characters / npcs are solid if you are engaged in a fight with them, this is to avoid weird los breakers and similar.

Instanced pve and pvp content, well what did you expect? It is the kind of content people enjoy the most and it is the most competitive kind of content, and Arenanet wants gw2 to be an esport. Besides, wvwvw, dynamic events etc is unique content.

Gear dependancy is only really present in pve and wvwvw. In structured pvp everyone is set to an even playingfield, and in wvwvw gear is hardly going to make a difference since its solely objective based.

On another note, gw2 beta invites are being sent out now :>

I don't know. I wanna be hyped for this, but everytime I see it I get less excited. I think it's the artstyle, I really dislike the visual direction of this franchise.

It's somewhere in-between realism and WoW cartoony graphics. To me that's really the worst kind. Sort of like SWTOR.

I don't know... The combat looks fun, and the systems seem great, but I think I'll pass on this one.

Even though the gameplay looks less interesting, I'm quite a bit more into the TSW hype machine atm. Will see.
