Default New Player Seeks Help!

Well first of let me say i am new to Age Of Conan, first learnt of the game after watching Big Bang Theory and finally decided too give it try.

I'm completely new to MMO's never have played one before so i'm quite lost, i've been looking over the classes i have available (F2P) and i like the idea of the Demonologist, are they quite hard too master?

Also should i stick too PvE or try PvP, which would be considered more fun?

Oh and one last question, which server would you suggest has some roleplay going on, other than the non english one?

Thanks Kindly

If you want to play demonologist, you won't be having problems going through your levels, as you can take many creatures in a fight at once.
It's always nice to take a little of both PvP aswell as PvE in Age of Conan because both sides have great content in them.
I'm a player from fury, and I know on our server is some roleplaying going on right now. However, on fury we have a major ganking / grieving problem like on rage(B&G PvP), but since you lose your items and money in rage I suggest you join Fury. You'll be spending alot of time trying to talk to NPC without getting killed by kids jumping out of stealth waiting there all day.

Goodluck on your journey through the world of Conan!

Regards.

Hello there and welcome to the Age of Conan

I don't think you would find the demonologist to be too hard to play, of course things get trickier on all classes as you progress and get more abilities, but all in all you should be fine playing a demonologist for your first character.

Whether you would prefer to do PvE og PvP is entirely up to you, personally I prefer mostly to do PvE with the occasional PvP session.

RP-wise the RP-servers were merged to Fury and Crom respectively, but you'll still be able to find some RP on both servers.

I wish you luck in your adventures, and don't hesitate to ask more questions if you have any. :0)

if u would like open world pvp yes, join Fury..

But if u like roleplay there is lots happening on Crom, and there is RP guilds around . for pvp there u join minigames, which there are lots of.

For char selection. it depends on what u like, will u be close to your enemy, og far away, will u be a dps class, tank or a healer class...

i recomend u to try at leas 2 classes in tortage before u select one to lvl to 80. it only takes a hour or so to get a feel for what u like..

I cannot judge the level of RP on Fury as I do not engage in PvP at all, but on Crom there are several active RP guilds.

One of them is Berades.

I would recommend to start with Crom as you are new to MMO. Only nuisance what you most likely encounter in Crom elitist people about PvE stuff, but that can be ignored fairly easily. PvP you can also make in Crom and its always -CONSENSUAL- so you never get in situation where someone drills new arsehole for you without your agreement.

Demonologist is good class choice for first timer. It has spells which are Click & Look them burn. Like instead melee characters has combo system which is more complex to master with all positioning, moving and clicking. Priest of Mitra could be another nice F2P character to start.

Roleplay is going in both servers. I can't say which server has it more or which has better quality, but both has it. At moment in Fury we have total four active English speaking Fat-RP guilds and couple Frog-RP guilds. Two weekly/be-weekly public events going on. So having foot in one of these Fat-RP guilds you can basically non-stop doing RP if you mood for that. But I'm sure that from Crom you can find your Sheldor to play with.

Well i gave a brief stint as a Priest first just too try one with healing options aswell but i quite found i didn't like her so i hopped onto the Demonologist and am rather enjoying being her alot.

Due too everyone's guidance i've decided too stick with Crom for now just while i learn the ins and outs.

I'll look into those RP guilds aswell once i get my feet a little more wet.

Couple of questions extra:

Kingkong, you mentioned minigames is that like mini quests you get given while in a guild? or something along the lines of say Final Fantasy minigames? lol

I also noticed noticed that from level 10 we can start learning and upgrading the attacks, skills etc i'm just curious is their a specific way i should train them when i get that far (only lvl 5) or just randomly choose?

Minigames are short PvP sessions. You can enter in those from first round icon upper left corner and "PvP tab". At lower level those might not happen so often.

You can slap those Feat points where ever you feel like as you can easily reset them later if you not like something. Best way to find out what is good and what is bad is to read Demo forums in here EU and also in US. Then bit test it out and find out your play style.

If you are into the priest archetype, you can always unlock the Bear Shaman class (750 Funcom Points) from the in-game store, unlock all instances (1300 Funcom Points), and have limitless F2P fun afterwards!

If you have a few coins to spare, this is an excellent investment into your levelling experience. If you stick to the F2P content, you will miss some of the most exciting levelling content there is. Here are some highlights to look out for while levelling:

* early 30s: Look for a group for Black Castle (group dungeon, purchase only) in Khopshef Province for the ultimate Indiana Jones experience in AoC;

* mid to late 30s: Visit the Pyramid of the Ancients (solo dungeon, purchase only) in Khopshef Province - one of the best solo dungeons in any MMO. And while you are at it, make a detour to the Treasury of the Ancients (solo dungeon) next door;

* late 30s - early 40s: Move on to the Sanctum of Burning Souls in the Wild Lands of Zelata (group dungeon, purchase only). It is very easy to find a group for this one, thanks to unique gear drops there, and the place looks spectacular;

* late 40s: While levelling in the Field of the Dead, visit the Haunted Forest (another awesome-looking place) and do the long quest chain there for some nice blue rewards (free);

* late 40s: Since you are in the area anyway, you might want to try Toirdealbach’s Tomb (group dungeon, free). This is one of the most difficult low-level group instances and can be a bit of a pain, but the rewards are worth it and your demo can be the star of the group ;

* early 60s: visit the Ampitheater of Karutonia (group dungeon, purchase only) in Ymir's Pass. Another spectacular place, and the rewards are nothing short of epic!

* early 70s: Test your mettle in Halls of Eternal Frost (group dungeon, purchase only) in Atzel's Approach. It's harder to find a group for this one than for Scorpion Cave (group dungeon, free) in Kheshatta, but Halls does look so much nicer and the end boss is a real challenge.

Needless to say, you do not need to do any of this to have fun when levelling your first character. But since you may want to focus on level 80 content for some time when you reach the level cap, it makes sense to try to take in as much of the levelling experience as possible even on the first go.
