-=Deadly Sins=-
A ghastly story
Darkness laid on Khemi, the pale moon and a few torches were the only sources of the dim light that illuminated the alleys. A man, in dark robes, was walking quickly in the shadows. Silence was broken only by the whistling of the warm wind coming from the sea.
The man sneaked into a small dark alley, and stood there, waiting, visibly nervous.
Few minutes later another man, in a red gown, joined him in that corner of the town.
Their voices were low, almost a whisper.
-I came as soon as I could, Lord Thakos. How can I help you?
The man in dark robes looked around, making sure nobody was nearby.
-I need your help, Khal. You surely know someone who will be able to... solve my problem.
His face looked really worried, his eyes kept moving, suspicious, as he talked.
-Tell me my Lord, what is threatening you?
-Khal, what I am going to tell you must be kept secret. You shall never tell this to anyone.
-My Lord, you can trust me. I will never ever betray you. I am listening.
-Long time ago I was nothing but a fur merchant from Khopshef province. Not a noble, not rich. Actually my business was not doing very well. So I decided to move to Khemi, to the big capital of the Stigyan kingdom. But it did not work as I hoped, I still had a lot of trouble with my business. Then, one day, I was very young, I met this Khitai jewel merchant. He was very rich, and was looking for some fine furs for one of his lovers. Well I had what he was looking for, and he was so happy that he told me that as a payment he would have fulfilled one of my dreams, whatever it was. And so I decided to change my life. I asked him to make me become one of the richest men in Khemi. He laughed and then he put a hand on my shoulder.
-My dear boy, I can make you rich and noble, but you will owe me a little more than just a stinking fur. Are your really prepared to fulfill your wish?
I confirmed my desire, and so he told me his plan. He needed someone in Khemi who could mix with the local nobility and the Set's priests, and I could become his informant, but first I needed "to become" a rich noble, maybe from a distant province of the Stygian kingdom. So we organized everything. I was going to become "rich" but the money he was going to give me would never be really mine. I was supposed to be some kind of employee. But once everything was set, and I was already well introduced in the scene, I killed him. I hid his dead body on a ship leaving that day for Khitai and for forty years I never ever heard about him any more. For forty years... till this morning.
