Default Ranger post 3.0 - your experiences?

There were some pretty bad reports from TL: a 25% damage reduction on all combos for all classes, compensated by shorter combo animations... except for rangers (who did get 8% damage given back). The damage parses that were posted didn't bode well either, and other classes also reported reduced DPS.

Now that the patch has been live for a while, what are your experiences on your ranger? Personally I am not sure what changed:
- In our T3 raid group (pretty much the same setup every week), our combined damage seemed the same as always (so the patch didn't kill T3, at least ). In 6 man instances we see the same.
- The parser in our T3 raid showed rangers in about the same places they always are: our über ranger in 2nd-4th place; the other two usually between 5th-8th place depending on the fight.
- I don't have old parse results so I can't compare ranger performance to pre-patch.
- However, solo PvE seems decidedly tougher now, especially on multiple mobs.
- (I can't comment on PvP performance)

So things have changed but I am not sure how Does anyone have some hard figures or experiences?

First experience:

The bad ones:
- Combo animation slightly shorter but hardly noticable
- 25 % DPS drop not compensated for in shorter animation > more combo's
- Burst damage down (incl crit dmg nerf) resulting in much reduced column effect.
- no reduction in CD on ranged finishers to compensate for shorter animation.

Good ones:
- ...
- Reduced staminacost for finishers

Bugs:
- interupted finishers without movement or LOS break.

Overall
- PvE: reduced effectivness due to lower damages (specially burst in ini's)
- PvP: Lucky we are not the only ones with problems otherwise we were dead.

Opinion: Combo change was introduced to make interuption of combo animation possible and still apply damage (reduced), as a result of fixing combo skipping. Ranger could not (or almost not) combo skip and still cant interupt combo finisher (and do reduced damage) due to the single hit animation. I think the rangers ranged combo's should not have been effected by this combo skip fix patch that was primarely a melee expoit.

Fixing the damage of PS and LB by increasing the DPS with almost 100 and increase of the effect of buffs on them is hardly noticable.

Till ranger can **** any armor off, put crazy dots and do one click 3k dmg (and remeber abot 1k-2k dmb from fire or shatter advantege) It will be fine)

So nothing new to rangers.

I did not see much changes...still rooted during melee combos and ranged combat seems as random as before.

I've played a bit more through solo content and open zones by myself, and it's definitely harder. Pen shot, a staple combo for solo rangers because of its column damage, has lost so much of it's oomph that it's hardly worth using anymore. In single target DPS the drop is noticeable, but against multiple mobs I really struggle now: 3 mobs means trouble if any of your CCs are on cd. Rangers are not a lot of fun to play solo anymore, and I fear that they'll be seen as a liability in groups going the more challenging instances; they will be better off pickin almost any other class.

I notice a difference in animation time between bow and Xbow. With bow a white hit following a finisher is very quick compared to an Xbow where this does not happen.

i found the isle of iron statues very hard full t2 with some t3 and t3 xbow and the spider was a pain in the ass cant reliably kill without dying at least twice, as for the statues ffs that was just lol had tiger pet and kited till they died the first time as i didnt have enough time/dps to get rid of enough of the statues before they hit the middle and ran for me always having to kite 3-4 at least - dps is the worst its been since the game started im truely thinking of shelving this game swor and bf3 are out soon i wont be resubbing if anything ill go f2p and just raid whats freely available. but as a paying player my time is up i think they killed the class with the revamp for me and they wont do anything to fix it while other classes ( casters ) have always been far superior in dps on single target let alone the aoe. and sins and barbs ( while they have just had a nerf due to cs fix) are still easily able to own a ranger los issues in pvp become very frustrating and tbh i cant be bothered with pvp anymore ranger is now a chicken class only and thats just crap much prefered the old days of xbow warrior run in cc and nail half a group before i died now that was fun to play current state is just horrible.

with all the respect, I am non even full T2 and I have NO problem killing anything in there without dying. Class is fine, true they lowered crit chance and a bit the base dps of combos but you can go in UZI mode and dish out a hell of fire if you know how... so just adapt to the new nerfs/buffs ecc... and use your skill to balance nerfs and get advantages out of the faster combo rotations (trust me, you cn really go in berserk if you know how)
