Hakketh, the Stygian ringmaster, looks at the crowd with a disdainful scowl. He resents the dirty masses, but as Balorac puts it: ‘there is money to be bled from the filth of the city’.
And he will bleed them dry.
He gives a quick nod to the man rolling dice and the girl stealing purses winks at him. They all work for him.
From the corner of his eye observes a little punch-up that ends with a dagger in a fat man’s belly. With a subtle hand gesture the wounded man is ejected into the streets.
This is just one of a dozen arguments brewing to escalate into violence. It is the sign the crowd is ready for the fights.
From his position high above the crude ring he declares:
‘Manuq of Koth takes on Tilius of Poitain. Place your bets now.’
The crowd roars. They want for the local boy to win. He will lose and the betting proceeds will be good.
Hakketh’s face betrays satisfaction although his eyes don’t smile.
Tonight’s going to be a good night.

Ladies, Gentlemen and assorted scum of Hyborea! The Pit, formerly organised by Blackthorn (currently on an undefined hiatus) is being picked up by a band of plucky volunteers ready to bleed time and get the new and refreshed RP community together!
Dirty gladiatorial fights, Drinking to excess, Gambling and any other sin you can think of, all in one tight and new package, on a bi-weekly basis, Thursday! (as is tradition)
When?
Thursday the 14th is our objective, with the organised portion of the event kicking in at 21:00 CET.
But Wait! There is MORE! :O
To bring the Pit back to it's roots and original mission statement (I.e.: Bring the community together) the event is now freely recruiting staff on a "Sign up - Show up" basis!
We always have emergency staff to handle the pit, the bar and several other duties, should we lack manpower... But we need, as always, more people, more volunteers, more fresh blood in our ranks!
Be it a filthy pickpocket, the pit bookie, barman/woman, serving maids/boys, security (after all, we're on fury now), or any other character you can think of, your application to become staff for even just one night is welcome. Ever wonder what it's like to be a barkeep for a night...?

What to do?
Showing up for the damn thing is a good start!
Potential staff should send a /tell to Anyad or Karcos.
To quote the words of Balorac:
