Question AoC on Ubuntu

Hello dear tech guys and girls

i am really really tired of using Windows now nothing but trouble, so i want to go back to Ubuntu again, but last time i used it and played AoC on it i had the problem of a low FPS, but now i want to go back to ubuntu again, and since this Dreamworld engine is soon coming out i want to hear if with this engine is it possible to run AoC on Ubuntu true Wine without low FPS? or do i have to try it out my self first?

in hope of a reply from a FC dude.

Ekh.

P.S. i really love this game and i really hope that it will be possible to run the game smooth on Ubuntu.

Long as there is no native support I fear that performance will be quite bad over Linux especially in demanding game as Age of Conan is. I don't think anyone is yet tested new engine on linux, but current one is at least working. You can follow it from Wine HQ:

yeah i have seen the testing on WineHQ but i was also thinking will the Dreamworld engine be only working with Directx or also OpenGL?

cause if it will be working with OpenGL then playing AoC true Wine will be no problem at all.

There is no support for OpenGL. So DX is only way to go. DX9 or DX10

There will be a noticeable performance hit using emulator.

Dual boot perhaps?

A VM server can be used to run it decently, Wine works less than sterling, and I doubt the engine update will change anything there.

Dual boot, like Invino says, is the only practical solution.

or other option is gaming pc running windoz and another box running linux for everything else.

then you get a performance gaming palat form that can be wiped without loosing anything essential

and somethign i never could get to work properly on a desktop wihtout spending a lot of cash for certain parts.
