I am not sure if I can trust the exact values you post as I don't waste my HD space with testlive client myself. But if it's really true that a combo that takes 5 sec or more of buffing and performing the animation does 2,8k, also the no-brainers will understand that it's ridiculous compared to other classes. And this is the best combo we have, with long cd...
I thought FC would only nerf the stamina drain??
I will test it when it comes live. Funcom is so fast about nerfing, they better test the quality of their revamps BEFORE releasing because I am certain they always exaggerate their subsequent post-release adaptative changes.
As usual, the threads here in EU forums derail with insults and hyperbole on BOTH sides of the equation.
So, cleaned up a couple of comments for lack of constructive posting style. Please keep it clean during these discussions.
Now onto some comments to try and bring parts of this conversation back to reality.
Yes, we have a great deal of CC's and CC-breaks available. We can't have them all but we have alot of flexibility in taking what we want.
Secondly, Gentree CC-breaks etc are very much an option nowadays (some people's opinion's being portrayed as facts aside) for Rangers. Some of us make a conscious decision to forgo GenTree now, relying on the AA-Liberation, Lodestones etc for our CC-protection. Others are still running a variety of GenTree specs effectively.
Thirdly, Ranger melee skills like Immolate don't "stick" like most melee combos do. When you hit the finisher, you're going to have a slightly harder time landing the combo. It's not a deal breaker but the combo does not work like melee combos anymore. It works like regular Ranger combos. I haven't used my keyboard to turn since...forever, and still miss Immo often enough to be frustrated. It's a long enough animation to be problematic.
Lastly, Ranger's range is obviouly our prime advantage, which is offset by our lack of a charge, regens, bubbles etc. If you're going to argue apples to oranges, at least keep it within the realm of discussing fruit if you take my meaning.
p.s. we needed a tweak to the drains, it's there. We needed a tweak to DPS on naked finishers etc and we'll see how far they went. I'm not defending us to remain OP, I want the class balanced. But by the same token, some people are on a crusade to nerf Rangers into the ground. I'll gladly call people out for that nonsense whenever I see it.
It's a shame to see such a severe ranger nerf.. as much as 50% less damage with upper+lower bonus, Is so over the top that I am honestly more tempted to laugh then cry..
It is crystal clear that this patch is something cooked up only to please the ever more whining and demanding mini-game players, with no regards to the singleplayer content..
Such a nerf Is completly fine for the PvP side of the game, but with a this severe nerf to overall damage, rangers will effectivly become the new hoxes.
In the end the only once that will suffer are the idiots constantly screaming for baseless or unrealistic nerfs... after all this is a "evil" circle, and now that you can no longer whine about rangers.. your class might very well be next in line.
just was on testlive and ye , the directional attack buff are still bugged but our dmg nerfed. (when i do lower buff and it got evaded i get with next shot an upper buff or i dont get any upper/lower buff etc.)
with naked piercing shot i mostly do 1500 dmg and with lower buff piercing shot i do 2000 with 325 sps (compared to live server now i have 300 sps the naked piercing shot do 2000 and with lower buff it hit with 2500 , and ye the crits got nerfed like 40%). So this wont chance the issue with the naked finisher and people will continue to spam naked finisher combos. i would have removed this upper/lower buff crap as i said already before this ranger revamp **** did hit live server.
tell me one thing why did i leave minigames with like 30-40 kills before revamp and why i leave minigames with mostly 20 kills with the revamp?
i could do more kills without revamp..... + i had more survibility and less stamina issue problems (i know ranger trap can drain my stamina but this isnt my issue , i have even more worse stamina problems as before revamp even when i never get hit by a trap which drains my stamina)

EDIT: i need to mention i did the dmg test on strawmen , now i did test it on a player and piercing shot with lower buff hit player for 1500 dmg.....is like 50% nerf to our dmg.

Huge rangers nerf is indeed the attempt to save the game. Well it might come a bit too late.
As numbers of rangers in the game MUST be decreased by a LOT it is necessary make rangers one of the weaker classes for PvP now. Well maybe lowering of rangers dmg by 50% might not be still enough as much this class was OP.
And if anyone is to blame from community it would be people like Gandalion. Such people who spam forums with fail suggestions, pretending rangers dmg was fine are apart of devs responsible for state in the game when population on servers is close to none.
So you deserve BIG nerf and blame just yourself DOT
