Default Incredible FPS-Loss after switching areas?

I got a rather strange problem, my FPS will sometimes drop drastically and all sorts of 1-2 second freezes occur. This mostly happens after I changed regions, like Conarch -> Conall Valley. Relogging doesn't solve it, restarting the game does. But obviously, this is not the way it's meant to be...

I checked both CPU and GPU temperature, it's absolutely green and fine. I did not yet check if there's some "overflow" in main memory but with 4 GB I doubt it anyway.

Someone out there with a similar problem? Any ideas how to solve this?

I'm having the exact same issue. When I start the client I get like 30-50 fps with all settings maxed and after some time and changing regions it's at 14-20 fps in the same area where I had the better performance before.

Always tested this in non-populated areas without players and NPC's.

It's definitely not a matter of hardware.
CPU and GPU temps are below 45° constantly. And 10GB RAM are unused...
All drivers are up-to-date either and this problem only occurs in AoC.

Running Windows 7 x64.

As with eronaile, restarting the client solves the problems completely. But that can't be a solution o___O

Vista 64bit here. Since restarting the game solves the problem (for a while...) I'd presume there's some kind of memory leak that grows while you are playing and finally becomes so huge that the game will become virtually unplayable. I usually play with 35-50 FPS but this hypothetical bug reduces it to 1-10 FPS and frequent freezing.

However, since RAM is never fully stretched it's gotta be some game-internal problem.

This is just theorizing of course.

Any ideas?

I had the same idea. Though I do not get any freezings, I presume it to be a video memory leak of the game client.
It has been mentioned in other therads and also in the US forums.

Apparently it has nothing to do with CPU affinities or process priority - those are all stable. It just seems as if the video memory gets fuller and fuller and when it's completely stuffed, tries to do something like memory swapping.

I don't see a real good solution for this. It's definitley a bug.

So why didn't they DO anything about it?
Lemme guess: it's all the fault of those baaad GPU producers that don't like AoC and hand-made this bug specifically to annoy Funcom. Yeah, good one, now do your job and fix it devs. Thanks so very much -.-

EDIT: Now I get it!!
That's Funcoms way to make players rest every 1-2 hours or so. Of course, restarting the game only takes about 1 minute but hey, that's enough time to get some fresh air, stretch your legs, feed your chinafarmer in the cellar and have a real life

On a side note, another user has a similar issue but we can't contact him in any way because he's on the us forums on this thread:
http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?p=2762871
He has almost the same issue, he just needs to restart completely instead of just the client.

It more then just sucks, that EU-Customers can't participate in any way in the US-Forums.

Yeah sounds very much like what I experienced. I did not, however, pay notice to my FPS all the time, I just noticed it when it went very bad. Could be the same pattern, tho.
Some official statement is too much expected I guess :|

Regardless, if I happen to find a workaround for this bug, I'll post it here.

I could still not solve this, but I found a way to only have to restart the client once a day or twice.
Might not work for others, but maybe worth a shot. Also the game looks better this way:
Disable The DX 10 ambient oclusion - it not only makes things flicker blaskish and totally unrealistic, but it also got me a huge enough average fps bonus, so that the fps loss after some zoning is compensated slightly.

Gave me + 10-30 fps in populated areas and double that in non populated (caves and such).
