Default Killed by every possible class

Hiya fellas

I have returned to AOC from a 1½ years break. I used my lvl 50 creation on a Demo on Fury. So far im level 52 but i have smashed into a giant wall of frustration. The leveling zones are swarmed with players who attack on sight - which is not the problem. What frustrates me is that im beaten 90% of the time and mostly im far from killing the opponent. I havent got any new gear.
What is the main problem?
- Is this game very gear dependent? in other words: I suck as long i have the lvl 50 beginner gear.
- lvl 52 demo is not great in PvP. Need more lvls.
- Im doing something completely wrong.

My build: http://aoc.yg.com/feat-planner?class...106-25,4108-21

Hi,

Well I have a demo and my levelling / PvP experiences are reasonably fresh. The level your at, I found, was a bit in-betweeny as you are not quite in reach of your lvl 60 goodies and enemy CC's and dps is quite hard to counter.

I can understand your build and going for purge but my experience is most of the time purge will not save you. Therefore it's my newb opinion that the 16 points you've invested to get it are better invest either buffing your fire feats or changing your feat set up entirely.Oh and btw the points invested in armour from the general tree are going to do diddly in PvP so no real PvP beneift in those either.

The weakness I can see is.

To counter enemy and get distance using your feat abilities you currently have 1 ability "Detonate". Nice ability, however this takes time to build up and use as it requires minimum of 1 stack of incinerate on the target. And just when you really need it, you have either been CC'd already (smart players will KB, Stun, fear and/or silence a demo) or it just won't work. The other CC you can feat for in the Fire tree is improving your Agonizing Fiery Torment spell by reducing it's caste time to Instant. This IMO would be MUCH better than purge, and is far more effective in saving you than all the other CC's you have, as it gives you a nice instant stun ability, plus 1 root and 1 KB. All this along with a nice instant Hell Fire Stream to add to your instant Shock all increases your chance to escape to live a few seconds more to do more damage and add another CC before nuking the life out of your attacker.

So when you get jumped, insta stun > nuke 1 stack of incinerate > root > add more stacks if needed > detonate > nuke to finish off. Don't forget to break out the beers and barbecue sauce to enjoy with your freshly fried ganker.

Sounds easy doesn't it ? I wish !!

Don't forget your Planar Shift spell that can save you from a few nasty melee hits invaluable when you see a melee DPS looking at you with XP signs in their eyes.

The other option is to focus on the Havoc Tree and go for the instant cast Wicked bolts spell. It's quite high up in the tree so it takes a few points to get there. This would give you 1 instant KB (very handy for charging sins and Barbs trying to stun / KB and HoX's in human form as you can interrupt them if your quick enough. Against medium and heavy armour you need more points in it. The advantage of the Havoc tree is bigger nuke damage, nice pet buffs, self buffs and greater range (this last one is great against Rangers at max range who think you can't reach them ). After 60 there are some great feats for buffing your health and resistences to fear and stun. If you go Havoc, go into the tree as far as you can to get 1 feat in WB (minimum) then I would put remianing points into the Fire tree as you will still want to use a buffed FoG spell (faster casting than Shock strike) with incinerate and blistering wounds, as well as your Agonizing Fiery Torment and your Hellfire Stream spells although chance to use these last two will be less as they have a caste time to them.

Very simply, you have to be fast enough to anticipate and counter whatever the enemy is going to do, keep distance and nuke them down.

Here is a level 80 hybrid spec by Sclulm which gives you an idea what I'm talking about and feats I would go for

Glad you liked it and hope you find it useful. I'm no expert, just giving my experience and learning curve on the demo which is great fun to PvP when you find ways to bring out its strengths. Feat builds at levels lower than 70 are always tricky as there's so much that is still out of reach that makes the class what is at end game / lvl 80. You have to remember this game is geared to be balanced at end game ie lvl 80. The balancing in PvP isn't too bad at the various level brackets but some classes definitely shine early on for sure, whereas others catch up later.

BTW don't necessarily accept peeps who say Havoc is better than Conflag or vice versa. It's very much a play style / player choice thing. Personally I try to get the best of both, but there are always compromises you have to make especially when you're still limited on feat points.

Your "auto"-gear sucks and your build too. Fire is single target and Havoc is better for leveling and PVPing.. because it has more CC. So lose the whole General tree on start and focus to one of the main trees.. IMO (I have 80 pvp demo) go for Havoc.. when u get more to 70 start taking general and then after when u hit 80 reset trees and generate Havoc-General hybrid 66%/33%.

You lose on pvp too because you maybe that sucker who don't dare to attack others and u let them to take first strike. CC-nuke and demo is ultimate killer... watch out assassins they are your arch enemies, but even after their refactoring they are still possible to kill.. it needs skills. Also you must learn other classes.

Are you telling me that Shockstrike is faster than Fires of Gehenna?

Any class can kill a demo right now, even the lowest melee dps. The only way you have to pvp is getting a group to defend you.

This a misleading blanket statement.

Most PvP in AoC is now groupbased anyway so chances are you'll be in a group (pre-made or PUG).

But even in open world PvP it is a falsehood to say "the only way you (a demo) have to PvP is with getting agroup to defend you". Demonologists remain highly dangerous in duels and open world PvP. At 80 and geared they have wicked dps and great CC's. Many people seem to assume that the "stam pot" nerf and the reduced CC range crippled casters - this is not true at all.

Saying "any class can kills demo now" means nothing. But if we assume all classes optimally geared and that the demonlogist is at least as skilled and knowledgable and his/her opponent, then there are only a few classes that stand even a small chance against a demonologist.

No offence but i wish like to know how can you talk about open pvp or duels since you are from a non pvp server as you say on your name. Bye.
