Default pls help me out

I have a demo lvl 78 .. i hardly play with him any more as .. well here it is:

-- I am fire spec + some in general (changed from light specc .. but seems i die same in fire as light).. i got normal+blues armor .. i only log in to do villas.

and i die die die .. any more then 2 (sometimes 1!!!) mobs its s run for the money .. around half the villa.. 99% of the time= tombstone .. my damg is .. well could be better but i dont feel its bad..
i feel that my defences are not up .. yet i am fully buffed.

pls help me i like the class.. but i find it so horible to play that .. ive been 78 for the last 3 months lol

What am i doing wrong? is it bugged? is it meant to be?.. is it writen in the stars? ^^

- you sure are buffed?
- do you use your cc regulary?
- do you use aoe, what's your general approach to fighting groups of enemies?
Also give a link to your build.
Because I find demo one of the best classes for solo pve, can kill a group of 4x 82-83 levels with no problem in 10s.

what he said.... Demo's are good in pve... you don't even Have to aoe, I usually don't unless it's a large pull.
also... you said your armour is normal+blue.... is it up to date? get yourself a grp for epic khesh and get some if not... don't nick aggro from the tank and you won't get a scratch.
also, your staff/talismans? up to date?

and one more thing..... pots pots pots, and planar shift. after the alch patch, I carry health pots in the hundereds. before, no less than 50.

The "demonic heart" makes you take 50% more damage from holy. When you fight PoMs remove it.

Why are you messing around in villas, though? I was in East Ruins in Keshatta from lvl 71, soloed the entire place from lvl 75 or 76, Demo's are actually so good and so much fun in solo PvE, i really miss levelling.

-make sure your buffs are up. by the sound of it, it doesn't really sound like you have them up.
-pots.use them all the time.
-4 hour food. by them at the AH. it's worth it.
-planar shift, very useful.
-hands of the underworld is also very nice.
-where have you placed your featpoints? i have no idea about havoc, but conflag works like a charm for levelling, everything i do is AoE and DoT dmg. Not cool in PvP with the current guards though...

I am buffed 100% sure. Altho with the damg im taking i dont understand ..
I am in villas alone so group play dont come into this .. in that department im ok.

maybe not specced ok? i left lightning to try fire so i dunno too much about fire yet.

fighting 2 is usualy .... ok .. but 3 then i tend to have to play the running game. I know i need better gear but in this situation i have a very good staff+ ok armor as in best for lvl 76.

Think like i said earlier that my damg feels right .. but the defences are so bad. I was wondering if that was a demo thing but from replies here it seems not.

I'm sorry but, there are many parts of that specc that can give you issues... for one, phase out(improved planar shift) is a must. fully specced it is instant, which is very nice. also, fully speccing the dmg decrease for the pact's is very usefull, as with a pot you'll actually be able to use them when you solo, both pvp and pve. greater flames, most have it, it's a nice nuke to eg open up a boss fight with.
well, your featcalc is old, but play around with backdraft, I like it. and Detonation, is a must. as is full combustion.... having 2 insta casts is Very nice.
also, atm there is little point in fully speccing GoH, as it will make the root break faster.... I can understand that you want the imps, but you sacrifice a good root for them, up to you if it's worth it or not.
hells blood is very nice, you should try it at some point, see if you like it....
also..... do you need the specc'd -hate%? it's quite easy to gear yourself with a few gemmed -hate pieces, and unless you do some serious raid dps you should not need to specc for it. it's 5pts you could put somewhere else, ex in archmage to make your 2(!) instants do full dmg.
tome of erlic is Very nice, but I know many consider it not worth the extra points you have to spend... I haven't decided wheather to keep it or not yet, it's mostly a matter of preferenace.

I did that fast, prolly forgot something..... anyways, there's quite a lot of room to play around with, depending on your playstyle

EDIT; and we Are squichy.... we're mages after all. 3 mobs Can be challanging, sometimes. try carefull pulls, in the build I suggested you get several instant cc's, use them, along with the havoc root. take advantage of teh mechanics... cc one, move back, and aoe the two others. use your planar shift(which is Very nice specced) and double-tap. use your pots aswell, they don't cost all that much.

Yesterday I fought in the villas and had both planar shift and pacts on CDs (any of those is a garaunted win, don't even use a pot with those), and still was able to defeat 4 guards at the same time with just regulary cc and a pot with little trouble.

Naya have already told you most mistakes, so I'll be short.

Your build problems, these are completely useless feats: mind phase (use crafted items or simply learn to control your dps - plus you have a planar shift which nullifies your aggro in case of emergency), quickened iron (it never breaks on high levels), consume flames (you rarely run out of mana, and mana pot is always enough for long fights), living firestorm (good only for show), improved waves od flame (completely useless spell and a useless buff to it), impish horde (good show, but still useless).

This should be 1 point max: field of fires (put 3 points only if you have left-overs: additional ~8 damage is not worth it), gates of hell (the more points you put into it the faster it breaks).

Archmage should be either 5 points or zero, its useless to put only 1-4 points into it.

You missed these must-have feats: scorch (-20 all regens and -5% heals debuff, stacks 5 times for 15 seconds - procs with lingering flames, really great for just 1 point), combustion+blazing fire+detonation+backdraft (you get instant cast damage spell which applies lingering flames and a splash knockback, this is great), phase out (boosts your planar to insta cast and +65% avoid), set's chosen (reduces pacts damage by half, great and needed for ltb anyway), ltb (your main spell in group pvp, enemies hate us for it ^^).

This are very handy to have too: hell's blood (boosts your regens, especially out of combat - which restores in in a few seconds between fights), greater flames (if you love big nukes and 1shots), black ashes (nice aoe debuff to your prime aoe), tome of elric (+15% damage for 20 seconds, insta ability), malefic chant + specter chant (1 point each, with a 2s fog + 2 insts it procs fast, minor but still a handy bonus hp/mana).

I see now that my skills need reworking.
I will take some time to check out my feats. Playing wise it is going better and i thank you for all the replies
