Well, we seem to disagree to agree then . DT is a matter of balancing, and you're entirely right, looking to have the highest aggro no matter what is hardly a good solution (a mistake I did way too much) if you're not tanking with a guy having just the same aggro than you (I could do that when tanking with Caldius during the Tian An frenzy) then having too much aggro/dps is not good because you'll end up slacking more than tanking, and dumping your survivability. We agree on that.

However I was just answering the thread by giving what I would just consider the best aggro/survivability set up before you have T3.5. A DT would have to treat that lightly because he would have to know his own aggro before, and want to reduce it if it's more than other tanks in his team and you're perfectly right than a DT who is not hitting the boss cause he has to drop aggro is mostly a dead DT.

That is a situation which happened a few times. With an usual Tian An setup, I generally use a BS and a ToS, and with good coordination and knowledge between tanking team and healing team, DT have quite some tricks to survive, SOC+ Nukes, + BP + crit + DS from time to time, Fire Boss is only 1mn30/2 minutes fight, by timing everything right, you can solo tank it in Tiger chest and anyway the boss hit so hard that the extra mitigation given by BD chest will not save you either.

I've personnally as well thought during a long time that DT with Tiger Chest was rather a bad choice, then I experienced it, saw what it gave me, and understood that it was not a bad choice for pretty much all situations. I would of course not use it in T3.5, would probably use it in T4 on all bosses but the magic one(s) if I didn't have better.

However as Bogus said, that's chest you have to use with caution, knowing your tank set up. Overdoing it is always a mistake unless your co-tanks have room for improvement (which they won't do if you slack too much).

of course , a guardian with very high end gear can probably solo it without a shadow, but that's pretty much the only possibility.

I think we lost whole point when we've started arguing about single item stand alone. That can cause misunderstandings. Perspective on chest is different when you using Ibis+Mirror Of Shadows and it changes with e.q. t3 guard sword and shield.

Probably we should talk about most important stats (mitigation/crit chance/hate mod) and how easiest reach them - build- or itemwise.
