Unarguably the funniest moments I had in game those last months were only due to very friendly people I could play around. I can't say we did very fancy stuff, but just enjoying the simplest thing in game with very friendly/laughing people, racing dps in T1, T2, having fun in instances, etc. It's when the fun in the game is your objective (oppositely to the purplez) that MMO shines.
Something sometimes community tends to forget, but maybe (and I tend to think I'm right) "MMO veteran" such as we are (it's an assumption from my part concerning you, I may be wrong) remembered that back in the day the games didn't offer much, but only the community did. I could remember having spent insanely funny moment playing on small private NWN/UO servers, with maybe a maximum of 120 players but very constructive one.
You don't need million people to have the best mmo out there, you just need a community able to create more than it demands.
