intel definately needs fixing, im quite sure its not working right, and if it was we wouldnt be getting spells resisted every 2nd spell on some bosses..

however if you stack everything up you *can* do some insane dmg. i know this isnt very viable in most actual PvP but with pact of set, bloody pact with set, lore of skelos and tome of erlic running i hit an equal lvl ranger for over 3000 dmg with chaotic blast. (test with a guildie) - just to show it is actually possible to almost oneshot people even as it is currently

As this seems to be a running theory, I figured I would post to clarify.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Demonologist (or Necromancer) magic ratings. You will notice that the buff from either of the specialized fire/electrical/unholy/cold buffs added to your base magic rating will equal your resist rating, or any other "target" rating for your level.

For instance, the target at level 80 is 317 ratings, which is achieved with the base value + the buff value from either school rating buffs. (Obviously, if you have Archmage, the buff will also apply to both schools instead of just one.)

So, in the end, it is Magic Rating + Specialized Magic Rating vs. Resist Rating for the purposes of combat calculations.

Additionally, no stats were intended to apply to magic (or attack) ratings, and this was simply an error in the tooltip text until it was corrected last week. Intelligence increases magic damage dealt, not magic rating.

Fruthermore, Magic, Attack, Defense, and Resist ratings do not apply in PvP at all, to provide a more even playing field for all players of all level ranges.

the buff adds magic specialization, not rating

is that the same thing?

Yes, although I have asked the text team to rename them from "Fire Specialization" to something along the lines of "Magic Rating (Fire)" to be more clear.

where do we see how much damage Intelligence adds to our spells?

and if that "bug" has been sorted out as root of our problems, what is the root?
why do hybrid classes nearly do as much damage as we do without having to sacrifice survival?

As a lv80 Demonologist, can you tell me why I only did 658 (single FoG) damage to a lv78 Guardian with all damage buffs activated, and 2k (single FoG) damage with same buffs activated to a lv80 mob? There are screenshots in my post in the sticky thread.

Thanks,
S

I dont know the endgame gear, and what stats there is on high level items, but how will we ever be able to compare stats?
when "all others" will have 3xx rating, and we have "base rating" + xx % specialization?

and this specialization is listed under "protection". should be probably moved to combat then.

I've tested Intelligence gear with my necromancer and it doesnt increase the dmg but maybe it because I only tested this with +3 int staff ^^.

I also tested with magic rating + 3.xx and the same ^^ Not noticeable increase of dmg.

Necromancer lv28 against lv20 mobs
