Question Minimum settings gives poorer performance than low settings. Why?

I've fiddle with the settings alot and what I've found worked best is low, 1024/windowed and 50 view range. Changing the settings (on the advanced tab) gives worse performance. Why is that? I'm pretty sure my graphics card is the slowest part of my system too.

Geforce 6600, 2GB RAM, AMD Athlon 62 3200+ and windows XP.

Default bugged

The engine is bugged, you need to press Low, then press ok. After that you press esc and head into the video menu again and change whatever you want to change and press ok and it's fixed. If not, try this again. It works for me.

Didn't help for me. I always hit apply or OK before going to advanced tab anyway. The settings are supposed to be more than a 10% improvement in FPS I hope...
