Sorry, Buffarse, but here you are definitely wrong.

Things that allow for collecting and customizing have had since the beginning of computer gaming in the 80s a very successful part with a defibite stable customer basis. Therefore stating that the crafter/collector gamer type is a niche, is certainly wrong.

Not every player is content nowadays with a choice of 2 or 3 basic looks or only linear content.

And as i agree with Loger that it doesn't need to be complicated (just look at the good feedback vanity tab had or how popular crafting is even in the actual state). Unless funcom wants to reinvent the wheel with housing again (in which case the resource argument might be partly valid) it is not complicated, because:

- funcom already can do "one door/npc" -> "several instances"
- aoc already has logs for completed quest and pvp statistics (to allow a "trophy room"
- aoc already has plenty of models ready to allow for houses and placeables, not much development needed here
- aoc already has the models for npcs to appear in housing
- aoc already has varied instances where categories of placeables allow for customization (guild cities)

So, really...especially with the potential in mind, neglecting the option might be just be plain bad management. Surely there are other things neglected a long time, but look at how easy a new mini map, a shield for people talking to npcs or even a consequence system for pvp could have been done, but we got Bori and the guards
instead.

Sure, it is NOT the holy grail and it will not bring hordes of players back (but neither will crafting revamp, class revamps, sprint revamps, one server tech (if done as big merge)), but in worst case it will be a one time investment keeping players in the game and at best even create something unique that will bring old players back or give something for new players or veterans to do!

Player housing doesnt make your toon by definition *real*, why are you so obsessed with player housing? een triple A mmo's doesnt go there, its waste of resourcs and money, there are other important things that Fc should focus on, sorry to say this but player housing isnt that important in this game and wont add anything to the gameplay, but you seems you dont understand that.

With the same arguments you could say the vanity tab, different armor looking different on players and unique looks of weapons are not important for gameplay. Why bother with char creation, when you can just choose "random" and click through or click through everything else?

Housing can be seen as part of character customization including emotes, looks, voice etc. and as an ingame achievement (like level, pvp level, tokens etc.). Char customization is a thing that is strong in AoC and it IS something that keeps players in the game and not switch to the next FotM MMO (triple A or whatever).

Just because triple A MMOs don't have it, does not mean it will not work or that triple A MMOs can't do mistakes.

I never asked for vanity tab,its cute for ppl who like to play dress up, my point is if aoc was centered on RPG and had RP gameplay, then I would say its not but sadly the game has changed thru the years, and I still think that vanity or housing or even renown was waste of resources, but FC is champion in wasting resources on things ppl dont dont want so you might get housing after all :P

AoC was always a mix. Roleplayers still there, PvP players with different factions still there and even in PvE there are lots of different preferences.

Customization, atmosphere and looks were always strong points in AoC.

Variety and more options in an MMO are 99% always good. And vanity tab and ingame feat planning actually are an example where the resources have NOT been wasted (unlike Bori, the horse racing or party roof in OT). Do you think ultima online has been so successful over years because of the graphics and action?

Dress up? I have seen enough "hardcore" pvp players on Fury who use vanity tab and did not roll the first char to appear. Even for non-"dress up" players the vanity tab helps a lot with character recognition (a purely practical reason), so even gameplaywise NOT a waste of resources.

Its not that I dont agree with you, but from my own perspective that was waste of resources, they could made a nice map or add new content or a feat planner instead and not wait till ppl tell them to do so, I have ranger as main ( Cassidy ) and I have T3 in vanity tab pure for the bad a$$ look of the helmet, because tiger helm looks bad, but anyway that was only my opinion,we all have one and ppl look to things in diffrent way

Sure, not saying everyone has to like player housing and the vanity tab is optional for a reason

Just annoyed at the always upcoming resource argument. Take the feat planner too: Every customer will benefit and they already did most of the work! They did the gui and everything ingame already and it would be just tweaks and export and then post it somewhere on the page. Instead of just doing it, they "think" about it and "investigate webspace" (ok, given...there have been holidays and such, but if not funcom, who owns the AoC website? Some mysterious guy who has to be asked by the game director for every game decision?). It seems the maintenance team, management and development team rarely communicate or work together
This can easily lead to a barrier, thinking everything new will be lots of work while actually having no idea if people inhouse already have done something similar or no idea of the actual options and resources already available for that change.

I am still hoping that the feat planner thing will be only an issue of weeks, not years or months.
