Just how brutal is D3? Seen only the bloody explosions and that poor sod ripped apart by some boss in an old gamplay vid. D1 was pretty brutal - limbs falling off, mobs with slashed throats, gurgling and dropping on their knees in a pool of blood... The soundtrack also added to the atmosphere - insane cries, moans and electric guitars. D3 looks more like a teen slasher flick compared to some classic horror....

Gravity Daze looks nice, but I'll doubt I'll ever buy a console only to see all these crazy japanese stuff. Well, maybe someday...

Well its the same dark universe, with corpses everywhere, bloody events, possessed people, that along some other things (environment kills are really nice too) + you get more xp by chain killing as many mobs as you can.

Sure its not dark fantasy as Diablo 1 (and tbh the only diablo like that is more violent than Diablo 1 is Throne of Darkness, all others, Diablo 2 included are less gore) and so far I didnt see something that looked like The Butcher, but the feeling of Diablo gameplay remain the same, for me it's far more important

Act I finished : it's as good as the 2 first diablos, far more action, faaaaaar mooooore and the beta was nothing, in fact they added much more mobs in the cathedral, much more named, caster mobs too everywhere and it's absolutely brutal -> win

My own opinion on the game is that I am so happy that I do not even have a second tought of buying that (my Battle.net was stolen years ago).
Earning real cash seems to be the only goal in the game for most people - I would call Diablo 3 "A Chinese gold farmer hack-and-slash simulator". Otherwise, the atmosphere is great, but it might need more vivid blasphemy.
You need a constant Internet connection for the single-player mode too, and you cannot buy the game in several countries until the 7th of June.

While watching some vids of D3 I also thought they screwed graphics... but after playing beta, graphics are awesome in D3. It's polished, dark and grotesque.

After all, people flamed D2 for having silly colorfull graphics, but we all know how popular was that game.

Big minuses that I give to D3 is inability to zoom to your character and to rotate camera (big fail, since it's 2012.).

Another big minus is that my character leveled attributes automaticly, but I am not sure if that was because of Beta needs, or because some auto-level crap stayed on, but if that is default, it's stupid - I want my 5 attributes spoint to uniquely spend them on my char...

for the leveling stuff, they indeed simplified a lot of things, at least in the first place it appear like that but once you get into crafting and the quite large possibilities it can give the real optimisation fun begin.

Character sheet is simpler that's true, like in Legend of Grimrock (who is really simple to play for a dungeon crawler) but the overall mechanics are not less simple, its different and really really well thought.

Game is absolutely frantic and they kept intact the feeling of Diablo, only for those two points they deserve a big thumb up.
