Maybe somebody finally read one of about twelve million forum posts and came to the conclusion that it's a shitty idea?
I actually feel quite good about the development schedule. If I were fixing this broken game - and it is broken unless Korean endurance grinders are your thing - I'd do it in this order :-
1. Meaningful economy plus massive effort to stamp out goldsellers. This obviously includes a tradeskill rewrite. Not revamp, redesign and rewrite because what we have now is frankly crap.
2. All-encompassing faction system starting at lvl80 with at least six factions. There MUST NOT be a Conan faction because of player idiocy - it would be bigger than all other factions combined by a factor of ten.
3. Dreamworld update so that all instances become Normal/Elite/PvP where PvP instances are free of mobs and guards. Along with merging of all the remaining servers.
4. Delete Guild Cities, replace with Factional cities, two permanent in each Border Kingdom, one disputed. Economic buffs go to the holder of that city. Lock down the traders - you can no longer send items by mail, you can no longer use a Trader belonging to an opposing faction. You are KoS to guards of an opposing faction.
5. Replace all Raid loot with recipes or ingredients.
6. Reintroduce Heroic ratings so that Gear no longer matters in PvP.
That still leaves us with AA imbalances but some things are hard to fix. I have some hope that this is the path they're taking.
