Default Strange Graphic Lag+texture fail , in crowded area (+ damaged files, gfx driwer crash)

My system :ATI 6850 HD , Win XP , 4 gig ram

I run AOC on highest settings. AA enabled.

The game runs smooth 35-45 FPS an all areas of Tortage.

But since yesterday (it didnt happen before) game started seriously hitching in proximity of Tortage market. FPS drop to 9.

Problem is that also textures start disappearing - turning black. Until whole screen turns black ( all textures disappear )

All this slowly comes back if i somehow return to less populated area.

-

Now I understand that populated area = performance slow down.
(and indeed the problem goes away when i turn off shadows)

But this sounds more like texture load problem.

I noticed that game does not load textures properly , very often. Until i fiddle with "texture cache" setting

Also, after first crash. Patcher forced me to redownload whole game.
And than after second crash it forced me to redownload 500 MB

-

Any idea how to fix this or what is causing the issue ?

Thanks

i just can tell that i have the same problem and it appeared straight after patch 2.6 .

do you have windows xp 32 bit running?
cause i asked around already and just others with this system told me they have the same issue.

but others with 32 bit system that dont updated their driver have no problems for some reason so i´m trying with older drivers atm (1.4) with no succes...

i have a radeon 5600 HD so this cards might causes the trouble.

I do have the same problems.

The open areas are fine but whenever I zone into one of the cities after hunting for a while I experience an FPS drop down to 3-5 fps.
When I try to move my char after that the whole screen turns black.

Sometimes a simple reload of the client solves the issue.
Sometimes I have to restart the whole PC to resolve it.

My machine:
Win XP 32 bit
4 GB RAM
AMD HD 6870 graphics
Phenom II X4 925 @ 3GHz

And it happens regardless of the AMD graphic driver version (tried 11.5 and the current 11.6 so far) since the 2.6 update

Yes, I have the same issue. Also on an ATI card and winXP. It might be related to this FPS loss issue described here http://forums-eu.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=152133 or it can be different because there is also loss of the textures. Anyway - is there any solution to that?

Windows 7 64 bit here... playing at full DX10 1900x1200 with a minimum of 40 fps in the most demanding areas...

Go windows 7 64 bit, cant recommend it enough.

Does not the fps depend more on the graphics card than on the OS?
