Default Dual ranger leveling team, some questions;-).

First of all, I was wondering what would be most efficient if you were to level with two rangers. (One of them played by a friend, obviously)

My friend wants to level up with a bow spec, and I wonder if I want to do the same. We'll both be raiding (hopefully) at 80, but especialy PvP allot.

And since PvP is our main goal, what would you suggest? Bow, or crossbow?

And would 1 crossbow ranger and 1 bow ranger have some nice synergy together? I imagine that the burst of two crossbow rangers is overkill in most situations. I've played both on this test server, and I could easily kill 5 80 mobs in the common district at a time without even loosing HP as a bow ranger, and I suspect I can do the same with a crossbow ranger, but maby it would be even easier? I found the CC of a ranger to be pretty insane, you're almost never out of crowdcontrols. And as crossbow ranger you have those knockbacks, perhaps they don't share the same dimishing returns (if any?) as the (mainly slows) from a bow ranger?

I know those are allot of questions, but I'm sort of 'new' to the game, and I hope I'll see allot of them awnsered.

Thanks in advance;-)!

Try both specs and see what you like better, both are good and have their benefits, I think one being Bow and the other Xbow would also work very well, since you will basically be applying everything a Ranger can do to your targets. Its all about play style though both are fun.

Hmm indeed, I've just been playing for half an hour on the test server with crossbow, and it's great, both have there advantages/disadvantages idd. I kind of miss the mass slow of the bow ranger, but the knockbacks are pretty insane. Not to mention the collum attacks... if you manage to line up your targets you can one-shot whole groups-.-'. (Seems pretty overpowered to me btw, I can imagine the devastating effects in PvP)

So I guess we'll go with Crossbow/Bow then, the two have allot of synergy.

Also the 'shield removal' feat talent thingy is really nice, I just put 4 points in it... but damnit, it helps big time. And I guess there's no raid going without that stuff, it would be a major DPS boost for all melee characters.

Hello,

I currently play bow ranger and often pvp with a good friend and xbow ranger and I can tell you the combination especially when on Ventrilo is a deadly one. When we attack multiple targets as a team I (the bow ranger) try to concentrate mostly on the CCing of troublesome healers or tanks with the more than effective Immolation. We see the bow ranger as the controlling player since the xbow is far more effective, dealing dps to multiple targets.

With high burst damage of the bow ranger using feats like focused fire / critical aim and brutality we often joke I’m often the one that initiates the fight with CC, then letting the xbow ranger suck the Hp of multiple targets before I would attempt to quickly finish off the doomed victims with said feats.

Any partnership is only as good the communication between the two players. There are probably loads of better partnerships out there but the beauty of this is your affectively playing as one character. Just be sure to time your CCs so neither of you waste those precious knockbacks, traps etc… Keep talking to each other and come up with a simple reusable rotation of combos so your always aware of the others cool downs.

Oh and make sure you don’t waste your mez shots on the same target!
